It’s another data point. Kyler has had maybe five or six games to affirmatively lead his team somewhere (including qualifying for the playoffs) and come up short in each one.

Most of those other guys proved themselves afterwards when they had the chance.

Not quite true.

DVontel's going to get me for posting this but, Murray is one for one in Big XII championship games,
defeating plucky Sam Elhinger and a game Longhorns squad to secure a berth to the 2018 version of the college football playoff

25/34, 379 yards, 3 TDs, no INTs and rushed for 40 more.

You guys seem thinks this guy knows what he's talking about so maybe you'll find his break down of Murray's performance interesting:

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

In Summary, when it mattered, and the talent was relatively equal on both side of the ball, Murray carried.

Do the same here in the desert, and he'll carry.

Yeah I get the 2020/2021 late season chatter but getting smoked by Saban Alabama is an absurd indictment.

Backtracked? My first post to you was about Herbert, guy. You just purposely ignored it. Use your eyes.

I brought up the Alabama game for Kyler as part of the pattern a couple of times.

Then you said this below. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Then you back tracked to asking me about Herbert. Why? Does it have anything to do with Kyler not winning big games? Hmmm.

Herbert is a better pro than Kyler.

What else?

The constant reminder of the Bama game is weird, too.

Does anyone care that Jalen Hurts got ran off the field against LSU in 2019?

Does it matter that Mahomes only played in 1 bowl game & lost that one by a lot?

Caleb Williams lost against a Louisiana team not named LSU in his bowl game. That should be a huge deal, right?

Murray has over 2000 career rushing yards to Herberts 600. 24 Rushing TDs to Hebert's 8.

Even after a dismal 2022 for Murray, their career passer ratings are close 96 vs. 92.

Up to this point, they're pretty equal, except the Hebrert plays for a leigit NFL franchise.

But go ahead. Keep talking TheCardFan.

…..Are you okay? Seriously, this isn’t smartass type of post. Are you seriously okay?
What do you think of Justin Herbert?
This is the first thing I quoted you with. Literally the first thing. How are you struggling this bad?

Your argument isn’t lining up. It hasn’t this whole discussion.

I know Herbert is better than Kyler. That’s never been the discussion, guy.

You’re talking QB W/Ls & “not showing up for big games”. That’s fine, but you’re not keeping it consistent when you are giving another example of a player. That’s where the clear hypocrisy comes in.

If you can stop confusing & contradicting your own self, it would be a clear & concrete read.

Ummm that's VERY VERY VERY debatable

Okay?

If you want to say Herbert played better in 2022 of course you're right Shane. If Murray plays like last year again in 2023, I'll be the first one to sign his farewell card.

But he's talking about their overall careers so far. Hebert's thrown for more yards per season, but in terms of passing efficiency, they're pretty equal, and Murray has a huge advantage in terms of career rushing stats (with one additional year played, but still).

What do you mean "I know Herbert is better than Kyler"? Just saying it like Herbert is some kind of QB wonder. Here's their career passing stats:

Herbert:

Gms att comp % yards avg lng TD INT Rating

TOTAL 49 1966 1316 66.9 14089 7.2 72 94 35 96.2

Murray

TOTAL571971131666.813848788844192.5

Same amount of attempts, same amount of yards, same completion percentage, a few less TDs for Murray and a few more INTs too.

But Murray has a huge advantage in rushing stats.

so pretty equal through their careers so far?

I respect your love for OU and Kyler (also your hatred for Caleb and Riley)...I get it.

FWIW- I was one of the "fan boys" for Kyler according to this board for a long time.

My opinion is different now and different from yours.

And that's fine, all I'm asking is let's be something close to fair to our QB1.

He regressed terribly last year, and he has a lot to prove this year. But, he is extremely, extremely talented, and there's a reasonable chance that he comes out and plays really well this year. Let's give him that chance (I think you will, you seem pretty reasonable).

If you had your way, the Cardinals would be 0-17. And since most of the moron media out there agree with your negativity, I guess a 4 win season would make my expectations CORRECT. I’m pretty sure you weren’t a fan back in 73, but if you were, you would be leading the charge to criticize Coryell prior to season 1 & then fire
him after a 4-9-1 first season. JG hasn’t coached one season, and all you do is itch and complain and criticize. He and MO have taken over a mess. They deserve better from ANY Cardinal fan since literally zero games have been played.
If zero games have been played they don’t “deserve” anything because they haven’t earned anything.

Personally, I have no idea how good or bad of a coach he’s going to be. That will be played out on the field. It doesn’t mean that I can’t observe and comment on what we do see. For instance, he seems genuinely excited about the opportunity and his players. Enthusiasm is a plus. We also have had a few really dorky snippets. We can call them dorky without it being the end of the world.

Let’s be honest: Dude might well be a huge dork, but we’ll all love him if someday he leads this train wreck of a franchise to the promised land.

But, remember that MANY on this Board think we haven't signed any FA's. And, while I don't know how any of the above five guys will turn out, I do feel good about our new center and the two ILB's. LG might be a wash and I have to say that losing Watt and Allen will probably hurt.
Literally nobody believes we haven’t signed any FAs. Many just point out that the overwhelming #s have been one year $1M offers to career backups. And they’re not wrong.

I agree. No need for that.
Honestly, I'd love for everyone just to try and understand everyone's perspective.

I for one, don't believe that this year will go well, but I see the plan in place. That doesn't mean I'm happy with it, but I get it, and I don't see the point complaining about it.

So I watched the Cardinals Flight Plan and don’t see what JG is getting “roasted” for.

Then I checked the initial article from this post and it quoted a half dozen tweets. Three of which were from Philadelphia writers. One was from a high school kid hoping to be a sports writer. Haters gonna hate I guess.

I’m not even sure what you’re rambling on about Herbert for I didn’t say anything about Herbert… Or Kyler… Look at what I quoted bud

My impression is that it was edited strangely... Bus/Car speech is likely a longer speech on people who will take the city bus to work everyday and grind without complaining.

The players show up in 6 figure cars. You better show up like you're a city bus rider with fire in his gut.

Man you talk out of both sides of your mouth.

Is Murray a giant choker or a guy who can play at an MVP level. Which is it?

See I don’t think you are trying to understand everyone’s perspective when you include the bolded.

I'll just point out that until he replaced an injured player Tom Brady was a backup.

You need mid tier veterans to rebuild a roster. It’s the difference between a one-year rebuild and a rebuild of indeterminate length.

We’re probably not Re-signing anyone next offseason; I’d rather have two more improving veterans under contract for another two years than having people say in March 2024 “well now we’re finally ready to start rebuilding.”

You do indeed, but not at $15.25m per year.

As I've said repeatedly, Zach Allen is just slightly younger Dawuane Smoot. And Smoot is getting paid about 12x less.

Why not? I assume you’re including me here.

Hovering a game or two above or below .500 is the default position in the NFL. Aiming well below it is a choice made by this front office. I don’t get how that’s hard to grok.

What? That suggests "being around .500" was possible had we only done X or Y.

We have about $16m in cap space. Keeping Allen and Murphy at the current cap structure (Allen $6m this year) would have wiped all of that out.

You really think Allen and Murphy are the difference between this roster being 4-13 and it being 8-9?
