Seriously? Why in the HELL would you elevate someone to OC if you weren't planning on giving over play calling duties?!?!?! Seriously, KW, don't be a moron, do us a favor, and do the right thing here. Good lord, why is he even considering this?

Looks like a season with confusion on the sidelines.

Wow

To me Mike Miller doesn't even look like a football coach or someone who is even smart at doing it. I still don't understand why Wiz didn't hire a proven OC with a proven track record. The 2 Millers & his loyalty to Grimm may just get him fired.

Without an NFL caliber QB, it doesn't matter who's calling the plays.

I agree of course but there are things that can be done to take pressure off of a QB. Short passes, screen passes, running the ball, all take pressure off of a QB.

Especially the short and screen passes. Teams blitzed without fear last year and if the QB can get the ball out to a RB who has blockers in front of him it's going to be a nice play if the LBs are in the backfield.

I'm glad you're happy that our coach is considering keeping the play calling duties, which really hasn't worked for him, even after promoting Miller to OC. I can extrapolate from your useless response that you'd be perfectly pleased to see KW keep calling plays.

His playcall was fine when he had a QB. I am not under the impression that there is no other good QB that can do it for us, if we get one, Whiz will strike down upon thee with... :p

Resist the urge to extrapolate on a situation you have no first hand knowledge of because it's useless to speculate on something that hasn't happened yet.

I don't think people really understand how poor our QB play was last year.

At this point, after hiring an OC, this shouldn't be a question...it should have become a fait accompli that Miller takes the reigns as the play caller. The fact that KW is even mulling this one over is troubling to me. I've thought about a lot of KW decisions, especially the QB decisions he made that led us to that atrocious offense, and I get worried. I know that most on this board have taken note of a lot of head-scratching KW decisions recently. That he would even consider this, IMO, tells me that he isn't learning from his mistakes, and that he may very well repeat them. I hope he doesn't.

If they don't land a good quarterback, Miller will be very happy that he doesn't have the play calling responsibility.

And Mike Martz does? Who here ever heard of Martz before he took over in St.Louis?
Okay there may be a couple on here who know Martz coached for ASU in the late 80's early 90's. But he was never an OC at the NFL level prior to Vermeil hiring him. He was a WR and a QB coach.

Calling plays worked for those two Super Bowl winning "morons", Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy.

As I understand it Miller was in the booth last year and would give the call to Whiz on the sideline. Whiz will continue to be the one who then gives the call to the QB.

Whiz stated that he will remain involved with the Offense because that is his strength and the side of the ball he grew up on in the NFL. As Miller did some play calling this year he will continue to do so next year. How much of it he does will be decided as the season plays out.

IMO this gives Miller the guidance and support he should receive as he is promoted to a new position with more responisbility. I for one want Whiz involved in the Offense because he is a proven offensive guru.

The QB position was horrendous last year and for those of you who blame Whiz for DA then tell me who we should have taken..... crickets...... There were NO other choices at the time.

This is how Whiz brought Haley along and now he is doing so with Miller.

He never should have elevated him to starter.

And I would like a look at a list of who was actually available at the time we took DA...I bet there were some other choices.

Whis fell in love with the concept that he could "fix" DA. Dude is unfixable, as Whis sadly found out. It was a good, healthy kick in the ego for Whis, and hopefully will make him a better coach.
