Hopefully the Suns decide to play a competitive game tonight when the Grizzlies visit after they lost to the Clippers last night in a game that was not even close.

Don’t let the 13-point margin deceive you. The Suns were dominated by a Clippers team that had lost three straight, didn’t have Blake Griffin, Patrick Beverley or Danilo Gallinari and started two players on two-way contracts. Phoenix never led in the game, trailed by as many as 25 and never came close to recording its first three-game winning streak of the season.

“Very sub-par performance,” interim coach Jay Triano said. “We were sloppy most of the night and lacked focus. Our energy level wasn’t where it needed to be.”

Here is a preview of tonight's game against the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies at Suns

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Talking Stick Resort Arena.

TV/radio: FSAZ/KTAR 98.7 FM

The Grizzlies are 9-21 and had lost six of their last seven games before facing Golden State in the Bay Area on Wednesday. Memphis fired coach David Fizdale earlier this season after it was reported that veteran center Marc Gasol and Fizdale weren’t getting along. The Grizzlies also are without point guard Mike Conley (heel). Gasol and Tyreke Evans are the only healthy players averaging more than 10 points per game. Memphis ranks 29th in the league in scoring and last in pace. Phoenix, which is second in pace to the Los Angeles Lakers, will try to make it a up-tempo game.

Bordow has been getting better covering the team as of late. I'm not sure if he's able to dedicate more time to the Suns, has less other sports or teams to cover, or has learned the ins and outs of the Suns organization but on game days he's been really good updating info on the team on his twitter.

I think Bordow covered Diamondbacks baseball so he may have more time to cover the Suns properly now.

He is doing a good job.

Tyreke Evans is getting inside at will. The Suns trail 10-7 at 8:45 in the first quarter.

Bender has driven the ball inside a couple of times. I like the thought. He will be rewarded with a couple of FTs.

Wow, they looked dead in the water until the second unit came in.

Booker will join the broadcast during the 2nd quarter. Definitely going to catch that. Have been watching the games as background noise more than paying attention since his injury. Be interesting to hear how he views the team and the game, in general, not so much this game specifically.

The 2nd unit reminds me of the 09/10 2nd unit, with Frye, Amundson, Dudley, Barbosa, and Dragic. They'd come in and play almost an entirely different style than the starters but they'd deliver night in and night out.

Len has become a monster rebounder.

He needs to figure out how to go up for a dunk without exposing the ball as much.

Len’s left eyebrow is up all the time. Has it always been like that?

I may be in the minority but I would really like for the Suns to keep Len and add some shooting around him.
