I would tell you that during filming a young director (who became hugely famous) cast a beautiful 19 year old model in her first major acting role and later left his wife and kids to marry her, but that might now narrow it down much at all.

That's the first clue so far that might have given it away to me, well, that, and the fact it's from the early 70's.

You guys are making these really hard. I had to google the latest one. I still wouldn't get it if I guessed.

It's because we're doing movies made before you were born... :)

I know what you mean. I have tried to post quotes that have stuck with me over the years. That covers about 6 decades so some are more difficult for others where some are easy. Most of the quotes I have posted have been guessed within minutes. Some I couldn't believe how quickly, as I thought they would be more difficult.

Two in particular were not guessed until numerous other quotes and clues were given. Those 2 movies were "Being There" and "The Last Picture Show". For some reason they reasonated with me over the years and I could hear those quotes as if they were yesterday. Two of my favorite movies of all time. At least for me. I understand that not everyone has the same taste. We are all unique.

There have many many quotes posted by others that I had no clue and just googled them and then waited until a new quote arrived. But for some of you, they were meaningful quotes and were "easy"

I thought I knew a lot about movies until I tried posting on this thread. You guys know your stuff and I have learned quite a bit and have put some of your movies on my list to see.

I haven't put a quote up here that I hoped would stump everyone. I've gone with easy quotes often but I've also posted quotes from a couple movies that I thought might get past everybody but I did it because I was really hoping to find a like mind that shared an appreciation for that movie. But I've yet to quote a movie that I didn't like, I suspect that's true for most of us.

I'm done for the day. If someone has insomnia and wants to post a new quote to keep the thread going...have at it. Will post the answer tomorrow if Google should suddenly crap out.

Recent but obscure line from an absolutely terrific little film:

"You tell your friends that these bombs have ended a war. They have brought peace. Bravo. You're a chef. I do not pay you to burn things. Take your knives and go."

I agree, Hundred-Foot Journey was a great movie.

I'll think up a nice tough one, now, since mine are always too easy to guess :)

So much for harder to guess lol I figured if I used one of the lesser-known quotes, which could be mistaken for a modern one, it would be a bit sneaky. I figured wrong lol

Pretty much all of 1968 is burned into my brain. Including the movies.

One note about the "Get way out" quote...it's from The Long Hot Summer. Taken from a Faulkner story about a barn burner. 1958. I often use quotes from it on the Cardinals board. Love that movie.

OK...new one:

"Yes, Bwana."
