This screenshot is from a mid 80's movie and rivals Wargames for it's watchability IMO. It's probably not quite as good but it's one of those movies that I can watch every time I come across it, even if it's just for a few minutes. And it's very much a case of Dabney playing a typical Dabney role. It was adapted from a popular French movie that had at least one sequel.

It looks vaguely familiar to me but I don't know the title. I can't remember the actor's name but does the cast include the "two weeks, two weeks" contractor from Faulty Towers (also played the ancestral researcher in Matchmaker)?

Okay, I tried searching off of the image to see if it was the movie I'd thought of but for some reason I had no luck there. So I tracked the movie down by searching the cast list of Fawlty Towers episode and it is the one I was thinking of, David Kelly being the actor I referred to.

I'm surprised you liked it enough to use it in the thread Chaplin. I didn't watch it all the way through but, as I recall, the humor fell flat and the saccharine-like sweetness was not to my taste. Might have been my mood at the time though.

Well, it's not the greatest movie in the world, but I did like it because a) I like Clive Owen, and b) it's of the same vein as the early 2000s Brit film renassaince that started with Full Monty.

The movie is called Greenfingers.

Here's another one:

Yep that's it.

How many people are actually participating now?

I don't know but did you notice that the old guy I mentioned that was in your Greenfingers movie and Fawlty Towers was also in The Longest Meter?

Yeah, after looking up his name I read a little quote from him, something like "55 years of roles and still I'm recognized mostly for my 8 minutes on Fawlty Towers".

No, as a matter of fact I think the above star was already dead by the time they started making Gangs. This screenshot is from a late 60's movie, big budget, big commercial success (I believe) and it certainly dominated the Oscars. I know it played in the big name theaters at the time. This film is one of the many adaptations of a very famous book/author and is easily my favorite rendition.

Les Miserables?

No but getting a little warmer. Some of the actors considered for major roles in this movie were Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter O'Toole, Peter Sellers, Laurence Harvey and Dick Van Dyke.

There is also a very heavily quoted line from this movie about wanting more of a dish that is basically unappealing breakfast slop.

I only picture Dick Van Dyke as Bob Cratchit or as Icabod Crane.

Swill?? Can't be cream of wheat, I loved it.

Well, the screenshot doesn't look like Long John Silver(or Long John Baldry) and I was figuring it would be a child if it were Oliver Twist, so I dunno.

I'll have to Google it.
