But I must admit that I'm very fired up about this team.

Blake had good field position to work with as the defense, last in the NFL in sacks the last two years, set up the first three scores and rattled Stewart with a ferocious pass rush.

I love the new defensive philosophy. This literally looks almost like a completely different defensive football team, and the offense doesn't look as bad as I thought it would

How have other defenses done in pre-season? We rest our starters the same as other teams. It is not like we are putting#1's on #2's. Our #1's are dominating #1's. This will carry over to the regular season.

I had been very wary about this defense through 2 preseason games, and with good reason. The Cowgirls just suck. Sand Diego had their way with us, for the most part (1st team).

Now, I know Chicago's offense isn't all-world or anything, but we flat-out controlled their first team (save for the last drive of the first half). This is frickin' AWESOME!!!

the play where coby picked off stewart was a fine example of how a good pass rush make the secondary better.

Somebody on this board said that "if pace gets eight sacks, they ought to build a monument of him".

Well buddy, get your concrete ready!

Whooo hoooo! calvin pace looking like a world beater baby!!

Even though it obviously wasn't a sack, can't get sacked and throw an interception on the same play, it does highlight what pressure on the QB will do for ya.

The problem the last 2 years is that no one ever seemed to get near the QB. Those QB hurries, hits and pressures are almost as good as a sack and sometimes even better.

This is why I hope the Cards don't run too many plays with a 3 man rush. It's okay for a change of pace and to keep the O off balance but not as normal scheme.

A consistent pass rush is all this defense needs to improve dramatically.

The only complete absence of a pass rush came on that 2 minute drill....now I know the Cards were in the dreaded prevent "soft zone" but when it was just 4 linem,an rushing the passer Stewart had all day to throw...this type of defense needs to be thrown out of the play book...how many times have we seen the Cards get burned in that kind of situation? Other than that the D-Line was unstoppable...Great game!

Huh? What the heck are you talking about? He is an upgrade over Plummer, but the receiving corp is so young and the offensive line isn't healthy.

And besides, be doesn't make the same stupid mistakes that Plummer made. There were quite a few plays last night, that would have ended up as a sack or a stupid interception if Plummer was the QB.

Gee, I didn't know that Plummer had a healthly Oline and top notch receiviers last year.
Oh, by the way, didn't the little fella have an INT and batted pass attempts?
I guess that's alright since he's an upgrade.???????

I really wish that the Plummer lovers would stop turning every thread into "Cards are stupid for letting go of Jake".

I didn't even mention Jake, and yet FJM felt the need to.

I couldn't care less about Jake "the fake" Plummer. He is the enemy now.

HAHAHAHAHA after a comment like that you should really cut back on the meds or the beerz...

And if it isnt those, then maybe you should "UP" the amount of meds/beerz you are taking.

Maybe if you watched some NFL you would understand alittle more about the game.

Blake looks 100 times better than Jake.

Jake is a warrior, and he has tons of heart. But he is NOT a good QB.

Too bad that Denver and the odds makers didn't check with you first.

FJM let it go ... Plummer plays for the Broncos now. If you want to continue with this sort of conversation take it to the bird droppings board

fjm, plummer is a sissy punk and always will be. when it gets tuff he craps down his leg. only reason he gets any props in denver is they got good personel. hes a punk, not a leader and now hes gone and this team is 3 and 0because of a good qb and football player... jeff blake. jeff threw some balls away last night when he could have went for the behind the back pass but he is actually a good qb that understands the importance of not turning the ball over. he is a team player, he is the real deal in arizona.

You are RIGHT! JAKE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED here in Arizona.

The play that made me a believer:
With just under 7 minutes left in the second quarter from the Bears 49-yardline, Bears defensive lineman Alex Brown tipped and intercepted a Blake pass. Brown returned the ball 11 yards before Blake stripped him of the ball which was then recovered by Boldin back at their own 23-yardline. The Cards again drove the ball back into Bears territory before eventually being forced to punt.

Jake would NEVER do anything like that.

If you people love Jake so much go root for Denver. I understand having favorite players. And rooting for a player. BUT D@MN, go talk about other players on other teams in the bird droppings section of this board.
I my eyes if they are not on this team. Then I don't care about them anymore. JAKE IS GONE, and in MY opinion GOOOOOD riddance!

Peace:thumbup:

You know what ? You honestly cannot have watched ANY of the Cardinals games in the last 2 years.

Jake would put us in a HUGE hole time and time again.

What is your response ?

That his OL stunk? That his receivers stunk? That his running back stunk?

Hmm let me see

Dan Marino
Brett Farve
John Elway
Jim Kelly
And yes Jeff Blake

Everyone listed above had at least 1 or 2 seasons in that same situation and they were able to play well

But you are right! I say we wait till the end of the season to see how Jake does. Because EVER SINGLE PERSON has come on this board and said that now that Jake is surrounded by GOOD TALENT that he will do well.

FINE. We will see about that but utill then you can't put anything in writing.

But my opinion still stands JAKE SUUUUCKS!

I've never seen someone so butt-hurt over someone leaving the team. Why don't you use some Anusol and take a Midol and talk football without whining about the absense of Jake in every post you make?

That was a nice INT by the DE for Chicago, he made a very athletic play. Our rookie sixth round pick who was starting at LT should've been hitting him in the gut to keep his hands down on a quick slant, but the DE jumped at the perfect moment and made a hell of a play to turn around and catch the ball. The INT was on Blake's stats, fine. You expect someone to knock him for it after all of the boneheaded INT's Plummer threw, well, Blake has to throw at least 10 this year before he even gets in the ballpark for Jake's dumb INTs during a season.

Answer one simple question. How does any of what you said above impact Jakes inability to hit a receiver on a crossing route? He consistently threw behind the receiver, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the only one you can pin that on is the qb. This is just one example of Jakes many flaws, but never heard a Jake partisan even attempt to explain this one. Why? Because there is no way to explain it away.

You weren't one of those nobs that used to say that losing with Jake is better than winning with another Qb were you?

It's not a matter of Jake sucking it's is a matter of him having no future in the desert, and deep down we ALL know it. The Thomas Jones situation is very similar though he showed less than Jake did.

Any way you cut it, it wouldn't have been fair to the organization, the fans, OR Jake Plummer to resign him. He was at a definite crossroads in his carreer and we were trying to break in a completely new system as well as a completely new receiving core. In short, this was not the kind of situation that would give Jake the opportunity to succeed, especially with the pressure that would have been put on the team and Jake from both the media and us fans. I personally hope to see Jake succeed in Denver, though I really wish the Cards organization wouldn't get hammered by it by the media. My only disapointment with the whole situation (which also goes with losing our top three receivers) is that we got nothing for him. It is never good to let your starters leave your organization without receiving compensation which is already a planned paper of mine when I start my sport's managment master's program in a couple of years.

Say what you want, and you all will which is why I love this board, but Jake the Snake (OR Jake the Fake) AND the Cardinals (by signing Blake) have both gained from this move and have both been given the best opportunities to succeed and turn things around.

Quick note, FJM is it really time to let this go, and the rest of you Jake Plummer despisers, all I ask is that you give a little respect to the man that led us to the playoffs in 98.

Let it go guys, let it go.

Well.....

I am impressed with how well Blake played last night with "Big" and LT out..plus having young recievers like Gilmore and Boldin...oh wait....he is supposed to suck because he didn't have an O line and no recievers. Blake has a pretty strong arm that reached the recievers quick. That was refreshing to see.
One last thing, what QB has Shannahan ever developed? He inherited Elway and couldn't do anything after that with Griese and Frerrotte and whoever else came in. I like Jake as a person, met him and hung out with him but I see Blake as a very good improvement. Copy some of the bronco posts that say he is the 2nd coming of Elway and paste 'em in Dec.
I stand behing Blake now, enough with "the other guy"
