I know we are not too positive about the possibilities of Haley being our head coach but I saw it mentioned he turned the invite down for the interview. If so, why the concern of him having a real shot if he does not want it

They probably just wanted to discuss what he owes them for all the Gatorade and socks...

There is a article where he says the cardinals Job would be a great opportunity.

I have been looking at so many sources that I cannot remember banky but I'm positive I read it right and of yet he had not accepted the invite and I read that as of last night. Maybe things have changed of late but with all the media crap making conjectures without any validity, it appears impossible to trust anything. It was from a major media source, I tend to stray from anything like Bleacher Report and that assorted stuff.

There were reports (PFT had one) that he might turn it down because he was very happy in Pittsburgh, but I never saw anything confirmed on it.

That doesn't say he's turned it down..it says he hasn't decided yet.

When he does turn it down, I will pop some champagne. That dude off our target list will make me much more comfortable.

To me it shows he is not too interested in the position. Being lukewarm about a HC position will hardly get you hired by a young owner who is interviewing other candidates who have a lot of passion for getting the job. I think we can safely breath a sigh of relief about a Haley hire coming to pass. No matter how much one wants to preach patience, even Michael Jr. has a timetable and Haley has no urgency about being our head coach.

It seems to me more like he's not interested in the position unless he has a very good chance of getting it. He doesn't want to risk his current job by acting like he's really interested in another job.

If so Azlen, then that does not bode well for Haley... be it if he wants to be our head coach or remain in Pittsburgh

Just a matter of many of us reading the same words and drawing separate conclusions.

To me it sounds as if Haley doesn't want to burn any bridges without first knowing he's got the new job. Wouldn't blame him; we're talking career. money and family's financial well- being.

You have to wonder how secure he is in his job there if interviewing for a head coaching position would jeopardize it. Mike McCoy isn't going to lose his job in Denver by looking at head coaching opportunities.

that is why I commented on that as well, he seems to be looking over his shoulder and is not confident about a possible position, or his present one.

I've been wondering if it's starting to be accepted around the league that the job is Hortons to lose.

Mike McCoy has more than 1 season in Denver, and several seasons under Fox, already...Haley just finished his 1st year in Pitt, and I'm sure he feels pressure to stay their for at least another year...His father lobbied for him, they fired Ben's favorite guru (Arians) for him, etc. I don't blame Haley for being cautious. Also, by all accounts, he came in and did exactly what the Steelers wanted him to do, regardless of Ben's feelings being hurt.

Haley is certain to become the next head coach AND IT IS ALL MY FAULT for posting that he would not even accept the interview. Cruel football gods looked down at me and cast some Cardinal logic my way, "Oh, little Jet, little do ye know...what made perfect sense to you will now be obliterated". Why could I have said instead, "there is no freaking way Jimmy Johnson will be our next head coach." Have you not learned by now stupid Jet, never EVER tempt the football gods with a passionate die-hard Cardinal fan feeling convinced of something. I am mud!
