The guy Fedora replaced was there for 16 years and had the exact same winning percentage. In 12 years in the C-USA, Jeff Bower won less than 7 games (6-5, 2001) 1 time. Four times he won 9 games.

Southern Miss was not broken when Fedora took over. The only thing he's done Bower couldn't do is win 10 games instead of 9 in their best years. It's a program with built-in recruiting advantages over most of the other programs in the C-USA.

Fedora also sports the pedigree of being the OC at offensive powerhouses/top porgrams like Okla St and Florida...

Look, I'm not saying he's the next Saban... but, who knows? If not Fedora, then who?

It would be awesome if A&M thought twice about their offer and instead went hard after Fedora...

Not going to happen, but it wouldve been ironic and fantastic..

It really is amazing how often ASU finds a way to break our hearts.. This is just snother in a long line of crap...

Fedora IS from College Station, and with A&M moving to the SEC it might not hurt them to have someone familiar with recruiting in SEC territory.

Stranger things have happened. I still like Fedora for ASU, but until it's reported as a done deal, everything's in the air.

Was announced on the ABC broadcast that Fedora and Briles are being looked at as strong candidates, with June Jones' name not going away.

I never really paid attention to either coach until today's game and Sumlin and his staff were outcoached in every aspect of the game.

Fedora moved up a whole lot of notches in my opinion.

Plus, a bought a fedora today! :D

Of the options on Doug's slideshow, I think I like Jim Leavitt best.

That is a good slideshow, especially for people like me who don't know most of these guys.

I think I'd be pretty happy if Fedora turns out to be the guy.

Fedora's a good, young coach who's cut his teeth as a coordinator at some top programs (Florida, Oklahoma State) and has Southern Miss in a spot where they're receiving consideration for a BCS spot.

In my opinion, he's a coach on the rise and would be a very good hire for ASU.

Yes but isn't doing that in Conference USA and doing that in that Pac12 sort of like comparing apples to oranges? He is going to have to recruit against teams in the Pac12 and face much better coaching and teams year in and year out.

Nick Saban began his head coaching career at Toledo.

Jim Tressel? Youngstown State.

Mack Brown started at Tulane.

My point is, everyone has to start somewhere.

The type of player you can recruit to go to Conference USA is not the type of player you need here at ASU to compete in this conference.

He also was in charge of recruiting at both Florida and Oklahoma State. Suffice to say, the talent he'll have to choose from at Arizona State will be substantially better than what he's had at his disposal at Southern Miss.

So if we didn't have what it takes to get Sumlin, how the hell are we going to be able to hire Fedora?

Sumlin had been to ASU, loved the facilities, had a good relationship with Mazzone. As far as I know, Fedora has none of that with ASU and will probably have other schools in the South throwing more money at him. Love better have some contingency plans in place.

It's been rumored that A&M has offered Sumlin four million a year. Facilities and Mazzone don't matter at that point.

Which supports my point. We aren't offering that kind of money to anyone and Fedora may be as hot of a commodity than Sumlin. So...... I don't buy that we are going to be able to Fedora, or any big name as the market price has gone up and ASU doesn't want to play ball.

The thought that Hue Jackson is a candidate is hilarious. Not only is he suddenly a successful NFL head coach, he left ASU in a huff because he felt he wasn't given enough credit for the offense. He'll never come back here as a place of employment again.

The June Jones idea is just ridiculous. Jim Leavitt is the best coach on the list, but he got fired for 1) hitting a player during halftime, 2) lying about it, 3) telling other players to lie about it.

Ron English remains the only guy for this school, IMO. And he won't get an interview. Lisa Love is officially off the rails. The rumor alone has stirred up enough resentment among the alumni, they're about ready to storm the castle.

So guessing despite this, he won't be considered? Considering our options, I'd at least give it a look.

Time to get rid of Love and start the search with someone competent at the helm. Glad the boosters have stepped in, June Jones would appear to be an obvious step backwards.

Any idea outside of Jones who they're seriously considering? Is Mora Jr. getting legit interest?
