I wouldn’t rest assured in that. If he was a head coach previously he knows what’s involved. If he said he didn’t have an interest and has to be convinced he’s not yearning to do so from an educated vantage point.
He might see his skill set better served in an assistant coach role. But if he is successful this season as a head coach, he might change that view of himself.

Triano seems to be very self aware but have little ego. In that way, his personality is a lot like Steve Nash.

If he does a great job, you offer him the position and try to get him to think about it. I've had this come up with some employees in the past. Encourage them to think about it, let them know how much they are needed and wanted, and see what they say.

Maybe Triano has a buddy he can bring in that knows how to shield from the kind of crap he hates... heck, maybe the guy has the title 'Head Coach!'
