A long 3 pointer by Bridges is so sweet.

It's not just Holmes. He's done it to Bridges and Ayton too.

Yeah, that's why I said "true". There was a little too much heat on that short pass to Holmes, I don't know if he could have handled it even if he'd been expecting it but he clearly wasn't thinking pass and that needs to change.

It seems to be Jackson often extends too much when he goes inside for a basket. I'm not sure if he feels he has a better chance of making it this way or he tries to avoid contact. However, it often ends up with his shot being rejected at the rim.
That’s interesting because it’s the opposite of what he displayed last year. I recall being impressed by, and commenting on, JJ’s ability to score through contact.

Seems like everyone uncharacteristically is trying to avoid contact under Kokoskov...

I get why they didn't play, they are G-Leaguers after all. On Two-Way deals their time is limited. Last year Triano seemed to use the Two-Way players much better. When they were up they played. If they aren't playing then there is little reason to call them up. It would have made more sense to play Evans since we need help at PG. King on the other hand is a tweener type forward, more of a SF though, so him being called up didn't make a ton of sense with Ariza available tonight in addition to Jackson and Bridges.

So Bam hits 10 of 11 free throws tonight. How I long to see a game where Ayton shoots double digit free throws. In 25 games this year he’s only made 48. Less than two made free throws per game. Sigh.

Canaan was a G Leaguer and got tons of playing time...

Melton was feeling it near the end of the 3rd, and then doesn't get back into the game until the 2 or 3 minute mark.

He was bringing it on both ends in that 3rd quarter.

Still a complete mess. At least No 9 point quarter. Still losing by 20 though. Only hope is some trades happen to shake this thing up.

And the question remains . . . was that his decision . . . or his Coach wanting him to stay in the game?

We may never know.

How can you blame the coach and not Ayton at this point? Either he listens and follows Igor's direction to a T every game or it's his temperament that has kept him from doing more. You really believe a 7'1" 20 year old rookie has that much discipline to manage to avoid fouls and blocks like that because his coach told him to? I know you've been critical of Igor in other aspects so if you truly believe that is the case I would be shocked.

it's not either or. Ayton is soft and Igor is soft. bad combination.
one of them is supposed to be teaching and motivating the other

i don't think anyone is not holding Ayton blameless for his lack of aggression
we just expect the coach to do something about it

no adjustments in 3 blowouts

I agree that it's a combination but that doesn't seem to be how BC saw it with the way he worded his last post, questioning if it's his decision or if he's following the coaches instructions.

I think it's more on Ayton than Igor. I know it's Igor's job to teach but it seems like Ayton doesn't realize he's 7'1.

His future may be as a PF in the NBA, I'm not sure. He's been used as more of a PF than C so far even though he's not sharing the floor with a C. He's playing in the high post offensively and facing up his man more often than posting up. Once he starts jacking 3's that could be the end of the C version of Ayton.

I'm not sure how he'll do as a PF but it would be nice to figure out before the season is over so we can find someone to pair with him that allows him to play to his fullest potential.

So Ayton isn't a physical banger down low now you need to adjust and put someone next to him who is.

KAT is in the same mold kind of. Great offensive talent but not really physical

I say stop trying match up with teams and play Holmes with Ayton. Hell give it a try can't get any worse right. Go to a more traditional line up

Holmes
Ayton
Warren
Bridges
Booker

We have all these wings that were supposed to be able to shoot well guess what they can't. So let's go back to a more "traditional" line up and just see how it plays out.

Come on Igor try making adjustments.

Problem with that is with chandler gone we would have no one else to play backup center.

We have to find a way to draft Zion and put him next to Ayton. With tbe way our season is going we should have best odds for the #1 pick.

Then throw a bunch of money at Kemba and i think that's a team that can start competing.

Ayton
Zion
Warren/Bridges
Booker
Kemba

Anecdotally, most of the time I see Ayton getting the ball in the paint is when he’s had his hand up for like 1000 seconds for everyone to see, and it becomes a turnaround. A lot of the time he gets the ball at the top of the key he’s already rotated out of the paint.

I’d love to see a PG who gets the ball to him more quickly, off the bounce, and who can draw a double team on their own. It would just open things up. Maybe Okobo will get there, but if the Suns do trade for a PG I hope we get to see it this season.

What I'm seeing, Jackson often extends his arms to attempt to score on close-in shots rather than getting his body more under the ball. The ball is often on the tips of his fingers as he reaches his arms forward towards the rim. This makes it easy to block.

It may not have anything to do with contact but his way of trying to extend his arms to get a closer shot. However, leading with the ball makes for easy blocks.

I agree, why call up the two-way players unless there is an expectation they are going to play. With King it could be a reward type thing but the Suns really need help at point guard. It would have been nice to see Evans play for a few minutes. I'm anxious to see what he brings to the game.
