I don't think you understand how meaningless regular season college basketball is. It's a 30 game TV filler to determine which teams are good enough (us) or not good enough (you) to have a chance to win a championship. Honestly I'll lose every regular season game to ASU for the rest of my life if it meant getting into the Final Four Or Elite 8 later that year. Just like in a few years when the rules change all of you would happily lose to us if it meant making the College Football Playoff.

Losing to ASU is not a step towards the final 4. Your team wanted to win. Miller cried to the refs all game long because he wanted to win. And they lost. No reason to downplay it, ASU won.

I'll say it, as long as Herb is still coach, the regular season is all we have and this win is our real only joy this season. Well, at least for me.

The au crowd is putting a brave face on it, but they just lost their shot at a #1 seed. No team that has lost to OSU and ASU is going to get a #1.

And, there is no way in hell au fans could conceive losing this game before it happened. I couldn't, and I'm a Devils fan.

It's really simple to see why ASU won today--- they made shots, big ones, and played really hard on defense and rebounding.

No downplaying it, I want to win every game and ASU outplayed us (especially our overrated frontcourt) and deserved to win. Just saying whatever the postivie or negative ramifications if there are any none of us will know until March. For all you or I know this loss will drop us to the 2 or 3 line in a bracket that opens up due to an upset and is matchup friendly. Or perhaps winning could have meant a 1 seed and a matchup nightmares like we got last year with SDSU and Kaminsky.

I don't think this year's team is an NCAA title team but they have as good a shot at it as anyone not named Kentucky and will likely win the conference. It's nice to have a legitimate shot at it every year though, if one of the drawbacks to that is losing to ASU here and there so Sendek can keep his job and continue to be a regional non-threat so be it.

UofA has won the championship as a 4 seed. So, whatever.

Haha, feel free to give him another extension then!

Not sure why UA fans constantly say that. It's like they think the chances they find a better guy is higher than finding a worse or at least equal coach. No realistic option out there is turning Asu into something more than they are now.

Solid win over UCLA on a night which featured Harden's jersey being raised to the rafters.

Sure was. This has been a different team since Goodman has been back

Ugh. Couldn't even beat USC in the PAC-12 tourney? :|

Why is Herb still here?

That was an absolutely pathetic choke job. There is no excuse for blowing a 15 point lead in the 2nd half to USC.

That would be a great get, and partially make up for turning him down 16 years ago (ASU thought they were too good of a program to hire a coach from NAU).

Don't want him. He has a similar personality to Sendek but with more baggage. Wasn't there a story about the time he was fired that he had alienated all the AAU coaches in the area?

All he did was:

3 straight 20 win seasons at NAU (a team that was one of the worst in the nation before he got there)

Took over a losing program at Pitt, in four years back-to-back Sweet 16's, 28 and 29 wins, won the Big East

At UCLA - Three straight final fours.

When Sendek comes close to that, let me know. He has made ONE Sweet 16 in his career.

Hell, Sean Miller has never even made the Final Four, let alone 3 times.

Yeah, and Dennis Erickson won a national title.

There's a reason Howland is still unemployed.
