Really?

I don't know about this, Carr is pretty awful. I watched him alot when he was on the Texans and .....ugh.

I would rather bring in an over-aged vet.

When Carr was on the Texans what did his supporting cast look like? It isnt like we are bringing him in to be our savior either, he will be a backup. Not a bad deal and I am all for it.

Get it done! Even if he doesn't start, he is at least capable of getting off to a fast start coming off the bench.

IMO he never had a fair shake at Houston. That offensive line from day one was horrendous. 60+ sacks allowed per season?? How can a QB go through his progressions if he is constantly under pressure.

Andre Johnson?

David Carr sucks. 8 NFL seasons and his career average is 6.4 YPA. Truly wretched mechanics, as well.

I'm excited for the third preseason game, when Mitch will be demanding that he get snaps with the first unit.

That's exactly what he is. We weren't looking for a starter and he's a better backup than BSP (sorry Mitch), so I am pleased.

Hopefully he never has to play a snap, but i'll take him for sure. The QB's available are slim pickings....

Carr would be my favorite to back-up Matty. I really like the stat line he accumulated in his six games played for the G-Men last year. He was VERY solid indeed, playing behind ElI. I think he also fits was Whiz wants in a back-up, and that is competition for the starting job. If he performs like he did last year, he will push Matty very strongly. I hope this pans out, as I have been hoping for this since Kurt announced his retirement. Best thing is we don't have to give up any bodies or picks to get him. Just make a reasonable contract for him.

Here is Carr's stats line from last year. He appeared in six games in place of Eli. He attempted 33 passes and completed 21 of those for 225 yards, and a 63.6 percentage rating. His long was 37 yds, and the average was 6.82 yards. He threw 1 TD, and zero interceptions. His QB rating was 93.6

This is a short comparison to Warner's line, which had a completion percentage of 66.l, an averege of 7.28 yards per pass completion, and a 93.2QB rating, albeit in 17 games played.

I just sent Mike Sando a private message on Facebook, and asked him what he thought... He responded,
"I've seen no evidence Carr will ever develop."

Wonder what Whis can do for him? Can he coach him up? Is there enough potential there for Whis and Co. to bring out?

I hope Whis has better things to do with his limited amount of time than work with a former #1 overall pick and face of a franchise who has turned out to be a career backup.

Shell shocked and zero leadership ability. I'd rather Whis and company spend every available minute working with #7.

what you want from you back up is experience and short term relief and Carr fits the bill...

i really hope this isn't the case. i was hoping we'd go after Pennington, who'd be a great backup. David Carr stinks on ice (but is probably cheaper).

We also reportedly have interest in Pennington and Charlie Batch.

Get this thing done yesterday!!!!!!!

Why? Is Carr the 2nd coming of Kurt Warner or something.
The guy is bad...so why do we have to have Carr so much? Leinart should play every game next year unless he is injured, so to me the backup should be a proven starter who can actually play in this league and David Carr isn't that guy!!!

BTW didn't all you guys get fired up when we signed Jeff Blake & Shawn King?

I think he's the best back up on the market and we have only one QB on the payroll. He has looked very good in preseason games and fill in duty for the Giants the last two years. He has not thrown an INT since 2007.

As I stated before, he was never given a chance in Houston. As an expansion, they got their franchise quarterback and no protection for him.

In no way did I imply he was the 2nd coming of Warner, but I think the Cards are doing the right thing by targeting him early.

yeah.. but the darkside in me (which is largely gone but never far away) just has a creeping feeling we go with the cheap guy... and that would be Carr.

i'd be stoked with the other two guys as backups.
