I thought it was a pretty good episode. Was good to finally see what had happened after New York almost blew up.

I think the Maya and Alejandro story will figure in prominently soon. After all, they're hanging out with Sylar so something must be going on.

Am wondering about Adam. Is he good or bad? All I know for sure is that he is hot. :)

Ditto!

The Maya storyline has been driving me nuts too, but I figure it's got to be important (or it was before the strike)!

Also, does Adam not want to kill Hiro anymore or is this just a ploy to get to Hiro?

All in all I thought it was a good ep... glad to see that I wasn't losing my mind about DL dying. For the life of me I couldn't remember him dying during the season finale, but I figured I must have just forgot.

Tonight's episode is what should have been the first episode for Season 2. Focusing on Peter was a smart thing to do.

Message to Maya and Alejandro: Cris Carter called and he'd like his black oil back.

These two have the distinct odor of marketing and demographics foisting a character model onto the writers. I'm surprised Maya's name isn't really Mary. As in Virgin. It was so suspect that I looked up the name's origin (because many writers bury their intent in character names):

- In Spanish it's a harmless shortened version of Amalia, originally Amelia or Emilia, which is a combination of the Latin "Emilia" which means "rival," and the German "Amalia," which means "to labor, struggle." OK. I probably should have stopped to look up the origin of "Alejandro" here, especially because the German version is a term for a child born with a birth defect, specifically without limbs.

- In Hindi, it is Sanskrit for "dream, illusion." Interesting.

- This is the kicker: In Russian/Cyrillic, Maya is their version of .... drum roll ... Mary.

Someone put WAY too much thought into this, and I wasn't the first. Now all we need is for Peter to see a future vision of Maya in his pancakes and some Spanish overdubs and we have Heroes being sold in early syndication for a nice sum to Telemundo. Or something like that. It just has that "holy cow, someone actually thought that wasn't offensive and was a good marketing plan" kind of smell to it.

Am I being too cynical? I thought many of the worst characters on the show were subtle stereotypes, but it wasn't until these two characters showed up that I was consciously thinking about it throughout the show.

FWIW, Alejandro is of course the Spanish version of Alexander, which is Greek for "man's defender, warrior."

I still think last nights epsidoe was lame, an anti-climactic way for DL to die, too much Maya & Alejandro, no back-story on how Parkman & Mohinder got Molly, no how Mohinder & HRG came up with the idea to take down the company...the Peter story could have been told in about half the time it took too.

Insight into Angela Petrelli's power, though. In the scene where she's trying to explain to Nathan's wife that he's "sick," they make sure that you see here touching her arm. I think she has the "power of persuasion" somehow.

Also, I think it may be significant that Kensei selected "Adam" as his name. He's (historically) the first character we've met with abilities. Maybe everyone else is his decedent?

This was my thought as well.

If that's the case, then, wow, because he didn't realize he had his powers until Hiro went back in time and kinda showed him, correct?

Right. But who's to say that's not when they first surfaced. He's still more than 400 years old and no one else is older with powers. As far as we know he's the first human with powers--and he's had centuries to bang all sorts of people to pass his genetics on.

I thought it was very interesting that Adam's blood healed Nathan.

Remember in the future Nathan died from the disease. Is Adam's blood the disease?

It was so nice of him to donate blood without a blood-type check, though.

(Because someone in another thread suggested I lacked the ability to let things go for the sake of entertainment)

Wow I thought it was good. Its a TV show clearly not based in reality but your picking it apart over blood type things. Whatever its a great show and good entertainment and was glad they kinda cleared up what the hell happened in the last few months to get things where they were. Adam is an interesting character will be good to see if he is evil or a good guy now, and how many powers does he have or is it just immortality? You would think over the many years he would at least be very informed on whats happened in the past with the other group of people all the parents and such.

I think he's more than "informed." He may have started that group; They certainly locked him up 30 years ago when they were "active" and he most likely is involved in their deaths.

Think about the timing (it gets confusing)--It's probably about the same time that Adam and Peter break out of the facility that Hero's dad and Mrs. Petrelli are attacked. I think Adam/Kensei is getting even. The symbol on the photos and on the hatian's chain was his from the time he threw in with Whitebeard in ancient Japan.

The disease is the so-called "cure" Bob is working on. I'm guessing that Nikki is the "Typhoid Mary".

:D

So....you but the instant healing power of his blood, but a "universal blood type" puts you over the edge? :D

With the "cure", wouldn't it make sense that it originated from the Haitian as he now is able to suppress a person's powers while around him (Kinda an X-Men 3 scenario)

:biglaugh:

Man, that was really funny, for some reason.

I think Adam is going to wind up being a good guy. I don't trust Bob at all, although that may be because the writers don't want me to.

I think they're both going to bad, but one of them will be good for all the wrong reasons. This is a universe where maybe only Peter is instinctively sacrificial in his goodness, but he was the biggest danger of them all at no fault of his own. The rest of the "white hats" have at least some selfish motivations.

They're drawing on decades of comic book tradition here. Anti-heroes like Batman (the Dark Knight vigilante) have always been more popular post-WWII, and especially post-Watergate. I'm a little surprised they don't play it up more.

Nope. Sorry I suck. :p

Tonight's episode was fantabulous! I am so bummed that there are only two more episodes!!!

I am liking Suresh less and less as time goes on. Actually, I don't like him at all right now. Am kinda hoping Sylar kills him next week, lol.
