How I see it for the offseason in regards to starters. There's some serious holes to fill...

Offense:

QB: Leinart
RB: James
FB: _____
WRs: Boldin, Fitzgerald, Skillethands
TE: Bergen, Pope (hoping he develops, right now he's terrible)
LT: _____
LG: _____
C: _____
RG: Lutui
RT: _____

I'm aware that when we put in a FB, we'll take out Johnson or a TE, but we may start in either a 3 WR set or Pro/I form so I included both the 3 wrs, the FB, and 2 deep at the TEs.

Defense:

DEs: Berry, _____
DTs: Dockett, Clancy, Watson, _____ (rotation)
OLBs: Dansby, _____
MLB: Hayes
CB: _____, Green, Rolle, _____ (gotta have 4 deep CBs at least. Green is a starter, Rolle is not IMO, he has HORRIBLE instincts and zero field awareness)
FS: _____ (maybe Rolle? Maybe Francisco?)
SS: Wilson

K: Rackers (should be cut, but he gets a 1 season pass IMO)
P: _____

That's a lot of freaking holes to fill to be a solid football team. I think you start with the OL, then the DBs, and work from there. I love big & strong LBs, and if you can get one in FA do it, but I don't have a lot of hope for the defense in the near future, basically because of the DB problems.

The OL has got to be priority #1.

:lmao: How do you fix that?! Davis at LG maybe? Would he be any better than Milford there? I think we draft a LT 1st, probobly keep Davis somewhere and look to put Wells at Center.

here's what i hope for:
QB-Leinart, also need a veteran backup since Warner wil be gone
RB-James, Arrington
FB-depends on the new coach's system,ideal guy-Lorenzo Neal, likely guy-street FA
LT-Joe Thomas/Jake Long whoever we draft
LG-Brown
C-Kyle Young
RG-Lutui
RT-Davis
bench-Wells, Gorin, Liewinski,rookie(Joe Staley?)
WR-Fitz,Boldin,McCoy, Walters. BJ i'm not sure about. If he's cheap then keep him.
TE-Pope, Bergen
k-Rackers

defense:
DE-Berry,Antonio Smith
DT-Clancy,Watson,Dockett, the rookie from VTech
DE- sign a FA.Thomas,Smith,Kearney, draft Lawrence Jackson
OLB-Dansby
MLB-Hayes
OLB-Free agent, Briggs,June etc.
depth-Blackstock,Johnson,draft Prescott Burgess
CB-Rolle, Green, Clements,??
FS-Francisco, draft Reggie Nelson or Tom Zbikowski
SS-Wilson
P-Someone new
that would give us a free agncy period where we pick up Clements,a DE, and an OLB, along with re-signing Davis. In the draft we pick up some extra picks and get Thomas/Long in round 1, Kyle Young and Lawrence Jackson in round 2, Reggie Nelson/Tom Zbikowski in round 3 and Prescott Burgess in round 4.

Guys we drop from the roster that are significant: Warner, Huff,Okeafor, Step, BJ??,Griffith, Darling, Macklin, Leckey??, Player, Pace.

I agree with most of these except Pace. He hasn't sone much but hasn't been given the chance IMO. He probobly better at DE than Okeafor at this point.

I could see them keeping Brown, Wells, Lutui, and Leckey from the existing squad. Davis is garbage. He's easily our worst OL, with Wells a nice #2 behind him. Our tackles have to be the worst in the league. Davis not being extended yet speaks volumes about the team's desire to have him back next year.

Of those guys left, Wells, Brown, Lutui, & Leckey, only Brown & Lutui seem to sustain any of their blocks, and each of them still get next to no push.

So yeah, I say blow up the whole OL. Draft nothing but OL with your first 2-3 picks and see where the chips fall. Sign 2-3 OL FAs as well and fix this damn ship!

What OL - men will be worth signing? No one lets good ones go nowdays. Davis may yet be tendered something, just because .... there's no one out there.

I thought the OLine looked better against the Lions. They also did a pretty good job pass blocking this weekend. The Rams should be a good game to judge the changes in the Oline. I would like to see us average 4 ypc and have 200 plus yards passing.

I would move Davis to LG draft LT and Center. I think Oliver and Step were alot of the problem with this line. The rest of the season should tell the story unless we quit.

BTW was quite dissappoted in the diefense aginst the Vikes. Thought we could play the run better than we showed.

Ol

They might be improving. Over 400 yards of offense and one sack in 51 pass attempts. I believe this is just the second game that they have played together. Let's see how they play in the next five games.

The OL played quite well against one of the tougher DLs in the league. Gotta give props when props are due. That said, we need 3 new starters next year....
