I did not pick them, they picked me when they moved here when I was a freshman in High School.

You too huh? Except for the freshman part :) that is.

1988, we watched the team arrive I've been in love ever since.

Since they came to Arizona...I'm a native and immediately they became my team when they arrived.

1988. Came here for family vacation that summer at age 16 or 17. Got wrapped up in all the excitement of AZ having an NFL team. Been following them ever since.

Actually, the Cards are probably, indirectly, the reason I moved to AZ two years ago.

I Feel Like the "One-Up" Lady on SNL...

1944 or 45 (when I was 5 or 6 years old).

The Chicago Cards had the same "last name" as the baseball Cardinals who had become my favorite team ever since my Dad had given me a baseball autographed by Terry Moore.

Before I could read, I'd ask my Dad whether the Chicago Cardinals had won that Sunday. And nearly every week, he'd tell me they'd lost. (Check out their record: In 1944 they went 0 & 10; In 1945 they went 1 & 9. But in 1945 they went 6 & 5. And finally in 1947 - sparked by the dream backfield of Christman, Angsmann, Harder and Trippi - they beat Philly for the NFL Championship).

I've rooted for them ever since.

(Note - Orginally, I had deduced that the first time I rooted for the Cards was the championship year of 1947, but I further recall having to ask my Dad each week whether the football Cards had won; and this had to be before I learned to read at Age 6).

Hard to say. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the team and had lurked on this board a while before joining. However, the point at which my soft spot transmogrified into full-blown fandom was in the wake of the Monday Night Meltdown.

You don't go through that kind of pain with a team and not become emotionally attached forever. Now I bleed Cardinal red. I will always be a Bengals fan first, but the Cards are almost on the same plane as my ardor for the Nasty Nati Squad.

1969. We were living in Columbia, Missouri. My dad had been in St. Louis for something U. of Missouri-related (he was a professor there), had attended a pre-season game against the Chiefs (the annual Governor's Cup game), and brought me back the program. I still have it.

Later that year, we moved to Indiana (Dad got a new job at Purdue), and I remained a Cardinals fan. Since Indiana didn't have a team back then, other kids were fans of the Bears, or more likely, the front-running teams (Steelers, Dolphins, Cowboys, Redskins, etc.). I took a lot of crap being a Cards fan, although 1974-1976 were a LITTLE better (!).

1971 the year I was born.

Grew up in Southern Illinois about 1.5 hours from St. Louis. Sat on my daddy's lap watching the games when I was a baby.

I used to draw the Cardinal logo to take my mind off things in school.

Also, I have a poster autographed by Jim Hart in 1984, the poster is a picture of he and Mel Gray with the St. Louis Arch in the background.

We moved here in 1995 from NYC where we followed the Giants during the Parcell years.

Loved attending the late season games at SDS so we got season tix in 1998. That's why I like the roof open, darn it! :p

:biglaugh:Good one!
In some ways, it is like we are watching a different team.

For years I have hoped for the Cardinals to administer a beat-down like the one they put on the Panthers. It couldn't have come at a better time!

Myself: 1974

A home game against the Bears, some years ago. I just realized, that is an odd time to become a fan of the Cardinals.
