in the new stadium, there will be two kinds of sell outs:
selling enough seats to lift the TV black out, and then selling every seat in the house
for lifting the TV blackout-- club seats dont count. The new stadium has 63,000 capacity and 7,500 (both approx) club seats. So to lift the black out, 55,500 seats have to be sold.
I know that reports are floating around that put the number of season tickets sold as north of 40k. Ron Minegar the Sales VP was quoted as being hopeful that season tickets when it was all said and done would be above 50K. (I am assuming these figures include club seats)
Based on reports coming back from folks who were going in to "add on" to their season tickets recently, I am guessing that 60% of the club seats have been sold, or around 4,500.
If the team ends up with 45,000 total season tickets -- then it will have sold 40,000 or so of the tickets that count against the blackout.
Will it get 15,000 more tickets in flex pass, walk up sales, etc? I think for the Bears, Cowboys and Broncos most definately.
I think depending on the time of year and how their teams are doing -- the Chiefs may be a pretty big draw as well.
Frankly, I would be happy if local fans sold out the lower bowl so that the opposing teams fans were pushed into the upper deck corners.
