Well we got our *** handed to us by Oaklands 2nd team, while we played our first almost the whole 3rd quarter. Disappointing. Injuries up the ***. Warner had one good run, then looked worse then Jake. Boldin is the positive on offense, what else is new.

Man, if you fans think the Cards is shaky at the Qb position with Warner and McCown, just take a look at the Bears and the Bills......

"After Hutchinson threw three incompletions in his first three attempts under heavy pressure, he tried to complete a sideline pass to Bernard Berrian. But Clements cut right in front and intercepted the ball, racing easily to the end zone from 31 yards out late in the opening quarter.

When Hutchinson returned to the huddle for the next series, he was booed loudly. Minutes later, Thomas Jones broke off a 40-yard run to the Buffalo 18.

But after Hutchinson completed a 9-yarder, he threw incomplete to the end zone on third down and the Bears settled for Doug Brien's 28-yard field goal.

Hutchinson's pass for Jones late in the half was deflected, then picked off by Takeo Spikes. He lateraled the ball to Clements, who was knocked out on the 3.

But Losman fumbled on second down and was tackled for a 20-yard loss by Hunter Hillenmeyer. The Bills ended up with a 38-yard field goal from Lindell.

He added a 44-yarder at the end of Buffalo's first series of the second half, right after a scrambling Losman missed a wide open George Wilson in the end zone."

I'm not concerned with the QB play. I believe Warner will be fine. I'm more concerned with the OL play and I don't see a major improvement with the starters returning.

Needed the work, according to the broadcasters. Makes sense considering that he only threw 6 passes last week

How'd he look? Is the backup job locked up by McCown??

One more preseason game and a couple practices with the starting guards and tackles and they HAVE to be better...

No matter how you cut it you have to run

This Cardinal team still looks like the offensive line sucks and we'll have no running game. To me it is not the backs but the lack of consistent push by this line. If we cannot run the ball it won't matter who our receivers are or who the QB is because we will have consistent 3 and outs.

I heard a prediction on KDUS of anywhere from 6-10 to 8-8 and unfortunately that is still probably right.

I've been thinking 8-8 and, with a few breaks (not injuries:)), 9-7. BUT, if this O-Line continues to play like they have in preseason, it could be another ugly 5-11 or 6-10. Warner might get killed by week 3 and if Josh is under center they might not win 4 games IMO. Navarre might not win 2 :)

BUT, it is preseason and a lot can happen. If Step can play and everyone gets back to their usual position it will be OK I think.

There is no excuse for the oline playing like they did, but here is what I noticed. I will be the counterpoint to the devils advocate.

1. Looks as if Wells was trying to compensate for the 4th string C which caused a ripple effect down to Davis. Step, heck even Leckey would have made a noticable improvement to the oline.

2. Brown is a rookie, will need a little more time and should get better. Again having Step or even Leckey next to him should improve his game as well.

3. Ross hasnt practiced for 2 weeks and looked noticably rusty and worn down as the game went on. He should be ready to go by Sept 11th.

Here is what it all comes down to IMO. The C injuries are just killing us and the chemistry to the whole oline. Having a 2nd stringer in there is one thing but a 4th stringer just wrecks havoc on the whole line, makes a ripple effect with the OG's(one of whom a rookie) trying to help out the 4th stringer then that in turn puts more pressure on the OT's, and so on.

We still wont be a great oline but there will be a noticable upgrade in play when Step or Leckey come back. :crossfingers:

Blocking schemes start from the inside out. I can see where the overcompensating for the C injuries can cause problems for everyone. Also, the C is the one who makes the calls for the line. Not only is Step our most talented guy at that position but he's the most experienced (even though he's only a second year player.) Brown in particular would benefit from that.

That's what I was thinking. You guys beat me to it. It IMO was clearly a lack of experience up the middle last night. If and When Step comes back... I think we will be miles ahead of the game.
