I trust QB Kurt Warner: Marc Bulger is BEST option for Cardinals in 2011!

If your not even sold on the "first round" QBs, why would you want one of the later ones? If we are drafting a QB let's get the best available or screw it and work on everything else, we already got back up QBs coming out of our ass. Start Skelton and draft a QB in the first, lets get this rebuild started.

Because none of the QBs can step in and start right away, IMO, and I have too many doubts about the top two guys to come close to wanting them at #5. That doesn't mean you don't take flyers on them later, or draft a different QB.

No matter what, none of these QBs are going to start day 1, so we have to get a vet QB to hold down the fort and let the kids develop behind him.

That's why I was saying we should start Skelton. Whomever we draft in the first can ride the pine for a year or so.

About a week or so ago, KTAR played a clip from Bulger which was said after the season ended. I wish I could find it but, in a nutshell, he pretty much said that sometimes it's okay to just be the backup on a winning team. Didn't sound too fired up to be starting at the QB position. That's not a guy I want starting for my favorite team.

Bascially he saying he doesn't want to start for some losing team, he rather play back-up to a team that is winning. After getting trashed in St. louis i don't blame him to much. Come to the Cardinals Bulger, you will help make them winners again.

I gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

But, I can't help wonder if he is where Jake Plummer was when he decided to retire. The article in SI regarding Jake basically said that Jake got a different take on the game when he got benched in Denver. He enjoyed the game more because the pressure was off. He looked at the playbook and practiced less because he wasn't starting every Sunday.

Thats's fine if that's where Bulger is. But, if that IS where he is, I don't want him stepping into a starting role for my team. And, honestly, I don't know if Bulger would consider our team not a "losing team." After all, we didn't do so hot last year.

I loved Jake Plummer but felt a part of his game died off when Pat Tillman passed away. They were best friends.

Back to the present. Im guilty of being a Bulger backer for our beloved Cardinals. I base this one his ability for making quick reads and getting the ball off fast. The Cardinals adopted the Rams offense during the Warner era. Bulger flourished in the same system. Plus Bulger (a free agent) is a low risk - high reward player that the Cardinals can get cheap and not trade away the farm for. I still feel at some point in 2011, John Skelton emerges as our future QB.

That's what I think too. Did anyone know he was the fastest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 completions? So it's not like he doesn't have the talent. And I don't think he's too old to have a couple good yrs left. I would much rather have the draft pick(s) to build the future on. Now if we were just a QB away from having a complete team, maybe the thinking would be different, but we are far from that. And it's not like the others out there are that great anyway. Giving up a 1st round pick for Kevin Kolb would be crazy in my opinion. Will Bulger do much better with the Oline playing as it did last year, probably not, but you could say the same for the others who aren't exactly mobile quarterbacks either. Id be OK with maybe Orton for a 2nd but I'd prefer Bulger and the draft pick, draft a QB and develop him along with Skelton.

Another thing is if Bulger does like being a back-up then he not going anywhere. He will resign with the Ravens.

I agree. It seems everything we are hearing- -combined with the 2 major endorsements from Warner & Fitz- say Bulger will be sporting a Cardinals jersey as soon as free agency starts.

There have been reports since last offseason that Bulger has lost all desire for the game.. Basically, he's just collecting checks right now.. Its why I never want this guy anywhere near this team..

As the year went on last season I became more and more of a John Skelton fan. Im excited to see his development heading into his 2nd season- with all the reps he'll get in OTAs, mini camps and training camp. IMO- He has great size, good speed and arm strength to be something special.

Without a new CBA there are no OTA's, mini-camps, etc., etc.

Warner was a great football player.
As an analyst he's as full of it as the rest.
I.E. Perfect for the gumps we listen to on the TV (news, sports, they're all idiots spouting sophistry instead of facts...trying to make a case held up by the thinnest of strings....and thus prone to be wrong)

While he DOES obviously know what is going on inside the cardinals. He's just another pundit when it comes to selecting who would be good or bad. What's his track record on determining good or bad players? He's a HOF QB, not a HOF kiper. Realize what he is and isn't.

Tim Hasselbeck strongly disagrees with Warner on Bulger.

ESPN analyst Tim Hasselbeck took a shot at free agent Marc Bulger Thursday, questioning the quarterback's passion for the game.

"Marc Bulger retired two years ago," said Hasselbeck. "He just doesn't know it." Ouch. Hasselbeck has little room to talk, but the comment is noteworthy because ESPN's Ron Jaworski related similar sentiments after meeting with Bulger for a preseason broadcast late last August. If that's the league-wide feeling, Bulger may struggle to land a shot at a starting job this offseason.

On NFL Sirius radio today the announcers (1st down crew) are saying Bulger to Arizona is very close to a done deal- just awaiting the new CBA.

Not good, first this and next will probably be the lockout announcement all on the same day. Bulger is not the answer and I doubt he makes it the whole season. Bulger is not the lightning in the bottle.

He might have been in 2010. Could McNabb have produced 3 more wins? That is all we needed for a 3rd straight Division title.

Absolutely... I actually believe Cards would've won 9 to 10 with Donovan.

Did you watch any Washington Redskins games last season? McNabb was FootballOutsiders' 23rd-rated quarterback. The Arizona Cardinals' offense might have had some better showings in 2010 with McNabb under center, but we lost 11 games by an average of 17.45 points per game. Does McNabb make the difference in nearly 3 TDs per game?

Add in the fact that the coaching staff had no faith in Donovan McNabb last offseason; they had no interest in him at all. We saw what happened when they had no faith in #7. We might just have seen Derek Anderson in Week 3 instead of Week 1.

McNabb was benched for Rex Grossman, guys.
