I think it also inadvertantly helped Josh regain the team.

The other two QB's are always the most popular players on the team when your QB struggles.

I think Quan and others really felt all King needed was a chance and then they'd be off to the races.

I think reality sunk in while Josh sat to some extent and now the rest of the team accepts him more than they would have had he never sat down.

Josh is a lucky guy, lets just hope it sinks in all the way and the bulb goes on or goes out this year so we don't have to waste next year figuring this out again with someone else or with Josh being in there when he shouldn't.

Yes I saw you post that earlier and I agree, I think in some way intentional or not Green showed the team "here is King, here is Navarre", and now the guys who were teetering or off the fence with supporting Josh now realize hey this is the best guy we have. Coupled with Josh apparently deciding to stop being so overly careful, without throwing all caution to the wind(happy medium I guess) and suddenly we look a lot better.

I taped the SF game and watched it later, Josh missed some guys but he made some terrific throws. The one concern I had was that until the game was lopsided he was still pretty cautious, once it got lopsided he opened up. From what I heard yesterday, he was far more aggressive early yesterday.

That's what I want to see, when plays are there make them, when they're not do the smart thing be it throw it away, run out of bounds. There were 3-4 throws against SF that were literally jump balls but when you're that far down you can get away with that, in close games with playoff implications you normally can't.

Really anxious to see how he responds Sunday, especially if the Rams have already lost.

Agreed. This was a very convincing win, and against a team that I do not take lightly despite all the fun at their expense around here. DG put a great game plan in motion this week, and I think this is a huge psychological boost for this team (or at least for its fans). The Rams have owned us, and now it looks like that might be over.

Is Josh better then the average QB in the NFL or just a below .500 starter. We can not compare him to Manning or Roethlisberger or even Ryan Leaf. All we can do is compare him to the other QB’s for the Cards.



Over the last 30 games the Cards are 9-21. Josh is 6-8 and the rest are 3-13. Or Josh has a 43% winning rate and the rest have a 19% winning rate. That is a 125% increase in wins per start.



Now let’s go to QB ratings.

In 2003 Blake was at 69.6 and Josh was at 70.3. Just about a wash.

In 2004 Navarre is at 25.8, King is at 57.7 and Josh is at 75.9. Enough said



I think this shows that the QB is not the main problem with this team. There are many other wholes that have to be fixed. Without a good O-line, RB, and offensive scheme even Payton Manning would be able to win consistently. Maybe Josh is the next Tom Brady or maybe he is not. He looked great yesterday but horrible against Buf and Miami. Lets fix the rest of the offense and then we can judge him. Until then I will have to go by the numbers and he is 125% better then anyone we have had in the last 2 years. There is something about this kid that seems to make everyone else play just a little better. If they can bring in a vet to compete with him great but I am glad they didn’t and won’t waste a #1 pick on a QB.

I like the fact he is checking off more at the line. I doubt he's doing it very well yet but it's a start.

He will get better at that, I was pretty suprised to see that he got a 30 on that Football test I forget the name of right now.

A 30 indicates he isn't dumb at all, in fact he may have been over thinking things and when you couple that with learning to interpret DG double speak and part of his problems this year make more sense.

I don't think he's ever gonna be a Russ favorite who makes just astoundingly good decisions like Manning does or Pennington. He's also not physically talented enough to be Brett Farve, I can't think of a QB he reminds me of but he's pretty middle of the road.

The thing is what I felt he lacked was confidence and belief in himself, that when things didn't go smoothly, he tended to fold up tent. He didn't do that this time and that more than anything impressed me.

Physically he still reminds me of Rob Johnson, right now he's showing he's on the verge of doing what Rob couldn't do, figure out how to survive after the NFL adjusts to you and starts blitzing the hell out of you. Rob never got that and quickly faded away, hopefully Josh will get it.

Josh is obviously not the same player as he was before the benching. Whatever the reason, Josh is playing like we all expected him too and it if he continues this play over the next two weeks...he will be the odds on favorite for next year.

That's the biggest difference pre-benching and post. Before, it was like he wouldn't pull the trigger unless the WR had a yard and a half of separation. And, he often should've audibled out of the called play but wouldn't do it. Yesterday, almost every time Archuleta walked up into the box and our guys were manned up on the outside, he audibled to a pass. Conversely, he also audibled to runs when Archuleta was back in cover 2. That's not rocket science, it's just solid decision making and trusting himself. He didn't do much of that at all before he was benched.

Really there is only one way to bury that beast and that is to get so you want the other team to blitz because you can burn it at will.

I watched a special with Parcells and he went over that entire concept and he basically said that you will get to a point where you want the team to blitz.

At that point the only blitzes that work would be the odd ball blitz or the out of no where delayed blitz that you don't read.

I don't expect Josh to completely master that now. He has to show he can learn to master it though and make progress. He's made some but again we need to see him deal with a quality defense in a game that matters. I hope the Tampa Bay game matters that would be the best test out there he has left.
