Hopefully Kokoskov isn't so stupid as to take Doncic over Ayton or Bagley. But if the Suns fall to #3 or #4 and Kokoskov really believes in him, maybe rolling the dice with Doncic is okay.

I don't know much about Kokoskov, but I'm glad that the Suns didn't hire a coach whose only qualification is to say "Uh... defense" in response to every strategic question.

That was always the most ridiculous thing Porter and the Suns kept saying when he was hired after his Milwaukee teams were in the bottom third defensively.

Seems kinda silly to do that before you actually see how those two actually turn out. I mean if Ayton is the second coming and Doncic sucks you’ll have plenty of time to oh your evil plan into effect. What happens if Doncic ends up the better player? You’ve already stated you’re done with the franchise.
I'll go against BPA again. I want to see us draft the player who best fills our need for the future. I don't see how that could be Doncic.

We're not tinkering. We're laying the foundation for a new era.

Sarver goes and watches Doncic play. Sarver hires Doncic's coach. Doncic is #1 on their board

Doncic is 6'6"-228. Don't we already have two Small Forwards? Would we really consider drafting (whether with 1, 2, 3 or 4) another Small Forward when out two greatest needs are at Center and Point Guard?

If we do, they might as well sew

...OUR GOAL...
IS MEDIOCRITY

onto the front of their uniforms.

Sarver went to UofA. Sarver has seen Ayton play multiple times. Ayton is #1 on their board.

By all reports, Sarver didn’t meet with Koskokov. It was McD and James Jones that went to Houston to talk to him.

Correct. After Sarver saw Doncic play.

I think Sarver wanted Ayton. McDonough said he has Doncic higher. Sarver goes and sees Doncic himself.

Now Doncic's coach is our coach.

So the banker is not just our highly visible foam finger investor, basketball genius and approver of the nightly lineups, but clearly our General Manager as well.

The draft will be our next indicator.

Our GM loves Euros. I think Sarver is stepping aside for McDonough

If we don't get a quality Center. And if Booker has to cover the playmaking as well as scoring at the "2" (and risking continued injury), I don't see any hope for the Suns.

And then tanking will rear its ugly head again. :(

You have that flipped. If we take Ayton then Booker is the playmaker. Doncic is the primary playmaker if he is taken.

Doncic will play the 1

Doncic isn't playing the 1 in the NBA, not a chance. No one could engineer a lineup where that happened that wouldn't be a defensive mess, unless they somehow went to a platoon system swapping players on every change of possession.

Not if we take a legitimate Point Guard with our second pick.

Did the Suns tank for a Small Forward?

Also, if the Suns should draft later (like at #4) and Doncic is off the board, Igor is still the best coach to develop their picks plus the other young players on the roster.

I see it as a win-win with not much downside.

Doncic is far and away the best passer in this draft. It isn't close. He can play the 3 but in reality he is a 1 or a 2

I see coincidence but if you really want to make the conspiracy work, factor in that Ryan made peace with Goran earlier this season. So they're now at peace with Doncic's National teammate and we've hired his coach too.

Another point to consider: every European import that has had extraordinary success in the NBA (Nowitzki, Giannis, Porzingis, Gasol, etc.) has been some combination of extraordinary size, extraordinary athleticism for his size, and/or extraordinary shooting touch for his size. Doncic doesn't have any of those. His supposedly extraordinary skills are bball IQ/court vision and passing. And you know who the closest analog to that is? Ricky Rubio. I don't want to be taking another Ricky Rubio with the first or second (or maybe even third) pick in a draft that has the likes of Ayton, Bagley, and some of the other guys at the top that this draft has. No thanks.

The comparison for Doncic that seems to be getting made more and more recently is Ginobili. And I wouldn't want another Ginobili either out of this draft. Ginobili has had a nice career, but if he hadn't played next to Duncan all those years, he would be nothing but a forgotten footnote in NBA history at this point.

You already know we picking 4. That's our luck we can't go lower than 4 so it will be 4. Really sucks cause it would be nice to pick #1

Well, no doubt... all of our bickering about taking Doncic or Ayton is simply academic. They will both be long off the board by the time we pick. We can all count on the lottery settling that.

Lonzo Ball is far more athletic than Doncic. I don't see your comparison.

False. Lonzo Ball can't drive on anyone. He has zero lateral quickness .

Doncic's floor is Ball.

You can say "Lonzo Ball sucks and you explained all of this last year Chris" but he is a NBA PG

Doncic will play the point for better or worse
