Firstly, (and don't get me wrong, he has value), Emmitt has to sit for Shipp. He has NO POP left and Shipp isn't going to get any better sitting on the bench for three and a half quarters.. What is Mac thinking.......that we're going to win down 30-13 with a whole quarter left?

Secondly, Blake should have been benched as soon as he fumbled that ball. McCown actually looked crisp during the time he was in......Blake NEVER had this game in any sort of control.

Our defense is actually worse than I thought. Time to rethink some personell moves. Absolutely NO PRESSURE whatsoever.....nada.....zip......pathetic. Why wasn't D. Johnson given more of a chance, especially since he hasn't played badly over the course of the last two weeks. Wakefield isn't incrementally better than DJ. Pace deserves the benefit of the doubt, but he's been a non factor so far this season.

Our WR's (Boldin and Johnson) are really good. Boldin's fumble was pure and simply a result of pressing. The fumble didn't affect the outcome and he'll learn that he doesn't need to expose himself to injury this late in a contest that's already been decided. Bryant Johnson is smooth, fast and is growing up very quickly. We can forget about looking at WR's during next years draft. We are in good shape at this position. By the way, was Gilmore even on the field?

Nothing gets me more angry than teams that can convert 3rd and long at will ( except 5's on a par 3). Our performance in this situation is pathetic.

Mac is a good orator but a very poor head coach. While it would serve no purpose to dump him quite this early into the season, he cost us at least 10 points with stupid decisions. We clearly were not ready for the two point conversion try and personally, I can't figure why it was necesary to try for it when he did.

I don't care what anybody thinks......our CB's are not even seviceable. Anytime you have to play eight yards off a player like Holt and/or Bruce you might as well hang a sandwich board around your neck saying "I'm too slow to handle you".

Special teams are getting better by the game. Kudo's to Scobey on his TD. If I'm not mistaken, he was accountable for the 14 seconds of posssesion we had during the third quarter.

I dunno guys.......I think we are better than we are showing but darn it, sometimes it's hard to know for sure. What I do know is that of all my rant, two things do stand out.....the skills of Quan and BJ....and the p**s poor job of coaching Mac et al are providing.

Enough for now.

Did you see how he was carrying the ball. Very sloppy. Watch the replay. Just letting the ball hang out there.

Yes early in the run he was!

But when the ball was knocked out he was holding onto it squarely with two hands. Just a very hard hit!

He did tuck it away but it was a disaster about to happen.

Mac is a great talker but a lousy coach. Our coaching staff is bad with some exceptions (like Jerry S.)

Watching the replay Bolding had the ball secured in both hands. He was stood up by 2 defenders and a third one came in and put his helmet square on the ball. Not even the great Anquan could hold on to that one.

You can only make so many changes in one year, once that first round of FA and the draft is over, you are done for impact players. Unless somebody does something dumb like NE and we didn't need a safety.

What did you expect, RG has refused to sign lower level, late FAs to long term contracts so that we can sign more more impact players next year.

We have a good squad, not a great one. For us to be sucessful we need some breaks and we didn't get them today. Have you ever seen

a) two intentional grounding calls in the same Qtr
b) Two penalties walked off against you in the same play. I didn't think that was even possible.

Did anybody else see the facemask that should have been called on the replay when the made the "judegment" call that Emmit was down before the ball crossed the goal line.

Every break of the ball and zebras went against us and as usual with the zebras they get them in early to brek the momentum.

No we are not good and until we can win despite the bad breaks and calls we will continuie to get the bad calls. We've seen it before and we will keep seeing until we improve.

This year we are close to being good, but unfortunatly close just means we lose.

Boy I'm sorry but we must be watching two different teams. What in any of these performances says we are "close to being good"? They did everything wrong today, like the Seattle game, including numerous penalties, crtical fumbles, and demonstarted an absolute inability to rush the passer. as I noted in another thread, even when we dropped back 8 men we couldn't stop their passing game. Bulger had so much time he just stood there and surveyed the field until he found a target. Blake's play has been awful. He has now committed the same criticial turn over in three out of the four games he's been in. Boldin is terrific but the fumbles have a become a regular occurence. We didn't lose today because of "bad breaks". They lost because they could not stop the Rams and even if we'd have closed to 23-20 what gave you any hope that we'd have shut out the Rams the rest of the way? Face mask shmace mask. It took us four tries to get it in from the 1 with our fablulous OL. Did the missed call on the face maks cause that? I'm really disappointted in this team and am starting to think the only reason they looked good in camp is because they were playing against themselves.

lots of dropped balls today.

Boldin 2 or 3
F. Jones 1
B. Johnson 1 or 2

We need a reliable 3rd receiver and were not gonna find it in Gilmore or Foster.....hopefully Kasper can get healthy and bring something to the table at WR.

Close meaning that we were in the game until the 4 qtr, Blake fumbled which meant (probably) a 10 or 14 point difference in the score.

Either way, without that mistake it's probably a 1 score game, that is reasonably close. What I don't understand is that they did appear to be outplayed particulary on D, so how did we hang with them.

My point is that there are probaly 2 reasons for the mistakes.

1) Youth. That wil be corrected by experience, resigning some existing players and geting some folks back from injuries.

2) Need for more talent. This means that the players we still have standing (not inured) have to play closer to the edge with less margin for error. Get Big & Bryant back things get a little easier. Get Kenny KIng back a bit more so.

Sign FA or draft a DE and CB next year, then even more so.

IMO, the Rams stopped themselves a couple of times, keeping it deceivingly close. Bruce drops a TD that he catches probably 99 out of 100 times. Bulger overthrows Bruce and they settle for a FG, and then they miss a FG.

We easily could've been down 14, 17 or even 21 points instead of ten and probably should've been.

I disagree. nidians right, we were in that game until the blake turnover (which was just HORENDOUS, you talk about a dagger-in-the-heart turnover that was it, but anyway).

we did some good things.

and nidians right that we got another boat load of bad breaks today. including the DJs fumble after the interception. and then a 53 yarder?

but spanky you're right when you say that everything is not kosher.

Its not like this team is going to 12-0 the rest of the way. There are serious, serious problems.

we were down by 10 when blake fumbled. we were a long way from winning that game.

were competitive, but we need to make some changes. lets wait a few more games before we start calling for people's heads.

Boy I'm still hot over that game Crim. and I always like your posts but I just can't see fumbles are "bad breaks". To me a bad break is a missed ref's call or a pass that hits the ref in the head, not fumble's sacks, interceptions, etc. Just my POV.

there is never a "good time" for a penalty or turnover - but we seem to have taken it to an art form in terms of bad timing..
