I was fairly impressed by Wilson -- not so much statistically, but in his pocket presence and decision making. As others have mentioned, I think their game plan was to keep the reins on him and have him not make mistakes that would cost his team the game. A few random thoughts:
1. There were at least a couple of plays where a guy came in unblocked and he was able to get the ball out/complete quickly. I thought to myself (at the time): "Man, Kolb would have been half way back to Texas on that play." He also showed pretty good ability to escape the pocket and turn negative plays into at least modest gains (blame our bad tackling if you'd like - but I think guy has some quickness back there).
2. He obviously doesn't have a rifle arm, but he did throw the ball downfield a couple of times and seems like he has an arm adequate to do so -- might need to work on deep ball accuracy though (didn't really see enough opportunities to properly assess it).
3. The INT was essentially a hail mary and I don't blame the backward lateral on him -- it was a horrible play call that got blown up. He didn't make the mistakes that ultimately cost his team the game.
4. We'll see how the season plays out, but I think/hope we have a true, elite, top 5-10 defense in the NFL. If our defense is as good as I hope it will be, you have to take the context of what he was facing into account - especially for his first ever start.
If I'm a Seattle fan, I would be thinking I saw something that could be built on. He's obviously not Drew Brees, but I think the guy still has a lot of potential.
