I've watched at least 100 Lakers games over the past 3 seasons and he isnt selfish. No one else on that team can score.

Take your pick;

A) Pass the ball to Kwame/Luke/et al and watch them miss.
2) Take the shot and be labeled selfish.

You forgot

C) Give the ball to Odom and watch him get injured. :D

Right, cause they dont average anything. Kobe is selfish. He was selfish with Fisher, Shaq, Malone and payton.

How dare you! ;)

OK. Let's revisit this in June '08.

Sure. In June I will tell you that Stat is better suited for this team that Kobe.

Good GOD you are a freaking hater. Kobe's led the team in assists almost every year he's been on the team. He's always in the top three or four SGs in assists, only behind Tmac and Wade.

If you ever watched any number of Lakers games, you'd also know that his teammates leave a significant number of assists on the floor by missing layups and gimmie shots. Oh, and to cap it off...his JOB is to score and score his ass off. He does it well. His job isn't to rack up dimes...but when asked to do so, he does that well too.

And on Team USA, he's fourth on there in assists. Behind Kidd, Deron and LeBron. All guys whose GAME is about passing the ball.

Talk about what you know, and keep your ESPN-created knowledge to yourself.

Silver lining if Kobe is traded...I won't feel compelled to defend him against the ignorant any more.

So you will like the logo and not the player?

Ah hah. Hater.

:mulli:

I've liked "The Logo" for a long, long time. Name on the front, not on the back.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'd become a hater because that's just dumb. He'd become a guy like Dwight Howard who is one of my favorite players in the game and openly covet to be on my team but hope sucks when he plays us. Also an example like this is Amare.

Kobe *should* be in the top four SGs for assists because he handles the ball more than any SG (except maybe Wade) so that stat does not prove he gets a high rate of assists. Likewise, on your Team USA example, he probably handled the ball more than all the other non-PG players, so he should average the 4th most assists.

That said, Kobe is not nearly the ballhog that his reputation makes him out to be. I've seen games where his teammates miss tons of wide open shots. Also, he gets a number of high assist games and he's a good passer around the hoop. However, he earned his reputation during the first half of his career when he was an extreme ballhog. He was a ballhog as a crappy rookie and he was a ballhog in All Star games. Sadly, his early selfishness is one of the things that accelerated his improvement.

you're absolutely right. people will say what they will about kobe but he is an above average passer when that's what he is asked to be. if kobe was on a team with shooters/scoreres of the quality of the suns' players, he could get 8-10 assists a game no problem. in the game tonight (i have it on local tv) cook has missed a couple of jumpers and brown/bynum have missed a couple of shots after a pass from kobe. usually kobe has to do all the work and make it so there is no way his team can miss in order to get an assist

To have kobe and frontcourt filler for the playoff run, I wouldnt miss barbosa or bell or marion or atl's pick

Believe it or not that could be the deal. I would miss Barbosa alot. If we could manage to keep him and make that deal somehow I'd just jump on that. Along with Atlanta's pick, our first pick instead of Leandro.;)

First of all, I reside in CA so it has been my displeasure to see multiple laker games. Second, you may think thathis job may be to to rack up points, but its not. His job and along with the rest of the Lakers is to WIN. I was unawre Deron and Lebrons Game was to assist. Let me know when you got this because well, its not. LEbrons is about scoring. Derons is all over in stats. Maybe Kobe's game is scoring, but dont put the bolame on his teammates.

That is true. But to say Kobe is great, or even average, no.
