Some legit issues I want to bring up in this entire Kobe-to-Phoenix discussion.

Yes, on paper and based off talent alone Matrix and The Roadrunner for Kobe is idiotically one sided in favor of Phoenix. Love Kobe or hate him, talent wise he's easily one of the top 3 players in the game, and dare I say one of the top 50 of all time. In talent and on paper, if the Atlanta pick is the only thing holding this deal from happening, it seems like an almost too good to be true proposal for Phoenix.

Yet, the concerns pop in to my head..

1) Chemistry. How well is Kobe going to fit in here? Before people mention the Matrix- Stat "war", keep in mind that these two have grown at least cohesive enough together on the court to where they don't let the personal animosity distract their ability to co-exist. Bringing Kobe in RIGHT NOW would lead to that question mark of how well he'd gel here.

2) On that same token, another question-- is Kobe at this point in his career willing to defer to Nash? To Amare? Let's be realistic, he wasn't willing to do this with Shaq, with Karl Malone and with Gary Payton, the former first ballot Hall of Famers. Do you think he does an about face with Nash and Amare? Before anyone says "of course", keep in mind you don't tell someone to ride in the backseat when they're used to driving their own BMW. Hope this analogy makes sense.

3) Complacency. Look, this isn't Kevin Garnett, who probably WOULD defer for the shot at the ring. Kobe's been there.. Done that. Thus, I emphatically question whether Kobe would be genuine about coming here and having to play second fiddle. This is Nash's team first and foremost, and I'd go a step further and say that it's partially Amare's as well.

Just a little food for thought.

Kobe wants more than anything to win - I think we'd see Olympian Kobe - a beast on defense and doing whatever the team needed of him on offense while Nash was running the show. He would know that within two years, the team would be a two-man show with him and Stat leading the way. just my opinion.

Considering the MayTricks has his luggage half way packed as is...I could see this from Phnx's side of things. I wouldn'y worry about chemistry, not with professors Nash and Hill.......for LA its essentially a salary dump, Barbosa and #1 for Bryant. LA will tank and pick up a second lotto...probably deal Odom as well for more youth...then go forward with a nice core of young talent featuring Bynum and Barbo and a FA or two. (hello LDeng?) They'd let SanAnt get old, Nash and co to slow down, and position themselves to gel then dominate 2-3 yrs down the line. I could see it all happenning...with or with out us. Just wait and see how long Kobe is a fLaker when they are 10 games under .500 in January.

Yeah, that isn't going to happen. Sorry.

maybe not ten, but I could definitely see them 5 games under - afterall, the NBA didn't roll out the 19 of their first 23 at Staples this year for them and Odom ain't gonna play in the first two weeks. They're gonna be digging out of the hole the first 8 games are gonna put them in.

it might happen but then Kobe would go off for 55/10 a game until they got back up to .500. it's amazing to me how kobe can have games like that on demand

This could be true, but 10 games under by January is just terrible. Almost too hard to get out of. Translates to at least 20 games under .500 at the end of the year.

The Lakers aren't winning any titles, but they also aren't going to be looking like Memphis last year at 22-60.

I personally think for the lakers to stay above .500, Kobe can't wait till January to throw out 50 point games.
