You just described Matt Stafford prior to LA
C'mon Kyler has never approached being as good as Stafford in Detroit. That guy was consistently top 10, Kyler is more than serviceable but he isn't top 15. A Superbowl can be won with Kyler, but if you watch his game and look at advanced statistics, he doesn't come close to being as good as guys like Stafford, Geno or Purdy.

KM has passed for more TDs than Geno has combined, passing and running in his 11-year career.

In 2024, Geno has 4 TDs, passing 4 INT and a QBR of 64.2.

Career: 81 games: 88 TDs passing - 11 rushing.

KM has 6 TDs, passing 1 INT and a QBR of 68.4.

KM 69 games: 100 TDS passing - 26 rushing

You had me until the bolded part...half a season of supe rbowl winning QB play out of 6 is not nearly enough to make the assertion that a super bowl can be won with Kyler.

Half of the league is in the same boat. It's just what QB's cost now - because there is such a shortage and because of their importance.

And if this team was even consistently in the first half of the league as far as competence was concerned, it wouldn’t be as big of a problem. But those other QBs you point to all contribute to their teams being at least average. Kyler doesn’t even do that.

Murray may or may not be the answer at QB, but there are other issues that demand immediate attention. The defense has been horrible and line play on both offense and defense needs to improve. How much they can do during the season is debatable.

To be fair, Geno wasn't a starting QB for 6 of those seasons. In reality, Geno has only started 70 games, so one more than Kyler.

Since Seattle put him in as their starter he has done very well.

Currently leading the league in passing yards.

The idea that this team can’t walk and chew gum at the same time bewilders me to no end.

Here are some facts for you. These are Kyler's stats after the GB game in 2021 excluding his horrid playoff game. I use this because it is a clear line of demarcation in his QB play.

29 games played.
9-20 record. .310 win %
657/991 66.29 completion %.
6455 yards. 225.65 yards per game.
37 TDs. 16 INTs.
166 rush attempts for 1102 yards. 38 yards per game.
8 rush TDs. 22 fumbles. (not fumbles lost) .75 fumbles per game.

Essentially this Kyler's average game log.

22.65 completions
34.17 attempts
66.29% completion %.
225.65 yards
1.27 passing TDs.
0.55 interceptions

5.72 rush attempts
38 yards rushing
0.27 rushing TDs
0.75 fumbles

So, since after the GB game in 2021, Kyler Murray's per game stat line (29 games) is similar to Daniel Jones per game stat line this season. That is the level of play he is producing. Kyler's win % is .310. Jones win % .250.

This is extremely discouraging. Time to start calling him Kyler Dimes?

That's funny. To be clear, I think Kyler is a better player. That said, because of the variance to Kyler's game, Daniel Jones(ish) is kinda what he averages out to be now days. Those stats with a bad franchise get you a bad result.

Also, this is to point out that Kyler is a different player now than he was when he was OROY and a PB QB. For whatever reason, Kyler has regressed. I think it is because of how teams adjusted to his style of play, but that is just my opinion. Regardless, it is time for folks to stop quoting his stats from a time when he was a different player.

Yup, the now is the now. I will however, personally as a fan use those years to justify why I want to try to hold out hope.

The comparison is Daniel Jones stat line this year.
The comparison isn't even close, considerably higher TD rate, more yards on fewer attempts and far better rushing stats and way less turnovers. What ridiculous point were you trying to make? "Here's a QB that is worse but if we break up the numbers into a per game size then he's still way worse but it looks closer?"
