Remember the Blazers several years back. That team was absolutely loaded with talent yet it never meshed. What an epic fail if something similar happens in Miami.

Miami could become the most pitiful team with too many stars but not enough supports to win anything.

I live 10 miles outside of Miami so for very selfish reasons I am over the top excited to watch this play out. I can see how the rest of the country is angered (disgusted might be a little strong - Aren't even casual fans interested in watching how this plays out?) but Miami is electric.

Hey the NBA is about players. And the teams that get those players. It's over the top predictable. In 1 week Pat Riley just took his Heat into the Top 3 teams in the league over the next decade and likley multiple champinships. Pat Riley is a god.

Personally I can't wait for next years Finals if the Lakers and Heat play. I want to watch Kobe try and slay the dragon.

Good thing I've got AdBlock Plus plugin installed on Firefox so I can avoid watching your horrific avatar, Brian ;-)

I don't have anything against the Heat. If we should make it to the final we still have to beat the best team in the East. I like Boston and Detroit less than I like the Heat so good luck to them. I like Wade but don't care much for LeBron.

There will definitely be schadenfreude if LeBron fails to win the title next year, but I don't know that people will hate the Heat in general. Hating a team usually happens as a result of its more obnoxious fans. I don't know that there are enough Heat fans around for them to inspire the loathing that the Lakers, Cowboys, and Yankees do. At least not now.

Just wait. They'll be around before you know it.

In a van...down by the river.
Wow...not that the Shaq move would be bad but they need to get younger not older. I think they need some young legs to mix with those vets.
Yeah i'll be curious to see how S.A. reacts to their aging dynasty.
They're counting on Splitter to invigorate the frontcourt.....hmmmm.
R. Jefferson was an awful band aid.

So Miami just spent virtually all of the mid-level exception on Mike Miller, to come off the bench...

Now they will have to sign 7 guys to a mininum contract... crazy...

I thought they would at least split the mid level and pay two guys salaries starting at 3 million.. that way thy could in theory get a couple of impact players, instead of one (overrated 30 year old on the downside of his career), but who am I to judge, they did just manage to get 3 of the top 6 stars in the league...

Miami wouldnt not fare well against a Lakers team with a healthy Bynum. Bosh would be so overmatched by the frontline of Gasol/Bynum not to mention the mismatch Odom brings off the bench.

Miami can dream with its makeshift dream team. Looks great on paper but they play the games on hardwood. They wont even make it out of the east.

Absolutely. Cleveland instantly dropped off the face of the planet.....leaving Orlando and the aging Celtics.
Miami is the clear cut favorite to dominate IMO.

Everybody is thinking that the Heat won't have a problem filling out their roster with minimum guys. But what they are not counting on is a) competition from other teams that still have cap space (like NJ and NY) and b) with a lockout looming, how many guys are going to go for 1 year minimum deals? And how many are going to go for multi-year minimum deals (with the potential of at least one of those years being unpaid)? Not many, even for playing with those 3. So naming guys like Brad Miller as possibilities is asinine. I bet Paul Shirley and Pat Burke are kicking themselves that they're not in the league anymore.

See my sig. I originally wrote it for the Dolphins, but it seems to be relevant once again.

They can't win a championship with this team. 3 all-stars and 9 D-league players cannot make a run tot he Finals. They just can't. These guys can't play every minute on the floor. The team will likely be undersized and now they don't have the money to go out and grab complementary pieces to fill those holes.

They'll dominate the regular season and run out of gas in the playoffs.

And I think we will see a McNabb-T.O. scenario play out over the next few years in South Beach. Too many egos involved.

I don't know Chap. I think there are enough guys like Juwan Howard, and Jason Williams who won't be playing much longer and are willing to take the minimum to get a nearly guaranteed ring. I expect Shaq to hook his train to the wagon as well.

A ring is far from guaranteed. And you know why? Because of guys like Jason Williams and Juwan Howard.

And what's the over/under for Chris Bosh asking for a trade? Everyone thinks it's going to be rosy with those three players and only one ball. Bosh will be lucky to average 15 points on that team--which really waters down his influence on the team. Everyone is talking about the "Big 3", but the reality is that it will be more like the "Big 2 1/2".

Not worried at all ...

LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Beasley, and Chalmers are the only Heat players under contract.

Where's the bench?

Lakers are still the favorite to win it all.

they also had draft picks this year. guys like vanardo that were specifically drafted with limited skillsets to be roleplayers in the event this happened. very wise.

and we've yet to see what vets chasing rings sign. i've said it before and i'll say it again, i could see shaq taking the ultimate subservient role to come get his 5th ring (tie kobe) and beat the lakers (thereby denying kobe) in the finals.

Not only that, but Bosh and Wade average about 20 games misses a season and Wade is 29. Alonzo Morning may have to suite up to have 12 on the bench for some games.

By the way, heard a guy on CNN say that Nike is less than pleased to have it's two of it's biggest shoes deals on one team. Most kids in China have a hard enough time affording one pair.
