they also drafted three roleplayers

dasean butler (shooter)
dexter pittman (large space eater at the 5)
jarvis varnado (shotblocker/rebounder/hustle guy)

if they get roleplaying input from these sort of players the rest of the team will carry the day.

Everybody is thinking that the Heat won't have a problem filling out their roster with minimum guys. But what they are not counting on is a) competition from other teams that still have cap space (like NJ and NY) and b) with a lockout looming, how many guys are going to go for 1 year minimum deals? And how many are going to go for multi-year minimum deals (with the potential of at least one of those years being unpaid)? Not many, even for playing with those 3. So naming guys like Brad Miller as possibilities is asinine. I bet Paul Shirley and Pat Burke are kicking themselves that they're not in the league anymore.

This is partly true. There may be a couple of guys out there that will get nice contracts from some of these teams with cap room but a vet min. guy is still a vet min. guy. And if its the difference between 1 and 2 million for a guy that's had a nice career and had big contracts the player usually chooses the good team over the money. Its not worth an extra million for a guy like Grant Hill to play for a loser.

Most kids in China have a hard enough time affording one pair.

They should just sneak one off the line after their shift.............

Anywho ... I don't see Shaq in miami ... both wade and lebron have been on that wagon before and didn't shaq make rupaul like comments about bosh?!

on a different thread I mentioned that health could be important ... what if someone goes all grant hill, never really plays much and leaves the team handcuffed?

this is far from a guaranteed thing

they have 3 excellent pieces, 3 pieces that I think can complement each other

they need to keep this goodwill together through hard times and expectations ..... bosh will most likely be the highest paid and lowest statistical performer .... wade owns miami and lebron will have to deal with not being the loved guy for the 1st time ever

his next trip to MSG isn't going to be full of chants and posters calling for him to join the knicks ... that's for sure

if the heat are smart they won't go all george karl and blow out in the regular season ..... sacrifice some wins for legs

they can get away with playing a 7-8 man rotation in the playoffs

i'm not a huge jason williams fan, but they could do worse and i really expect him to sign up

so right now their 8 man could be J-Will, Wade, Lebron, Bosh, F/C starter ..... bench of Miller, Chalmers

They have their rooks.

So if they sign williams they probably need a rotation of 2-3 big bodies, a combo guard and a combo forward off the bench

won't be easy, but not out of the realm of possibility either

Marquis Daniels, Bobby Simmons, Tony Battie, Flip Murray, Francisco Elson (although someone may overpay for him), Earl Watson, Anthony Carter, Antonio Daniels, etc

I think they could pick up a couple players from that level

There actually looks to be a lot of combo guards and G/F players out there that could be good fits .... i think filling out the front court will be the biggest challenge

the amount of foul trouble those two will cause will strain any defense.

It's also part of the reason why I don't see shaq in there .... he clogs up what would be one of their strengths

i definitely expect to see the heat shooting a lot of free throws and a lot of 3 pointers based on collapsing defenses

After thinking about this Miami team I really like what has happened. 3 players got together and decided their own destiny. It wasn't Stern looking the other way while Memphis gift wrapped Gasol for the Lakers, it was 3 guys exercising their right to work wherever they want to.

The league office has got to be pretty angry about all of this. Miami has the 17th largest TV market. Stern would never have let this happen in the old days.

chap - i definitely agree ..... it's going to be real interesting to see what miami can put together

i think mike miller is a good piece, but all told i'm not sure if it's a great price

what do wade and bron need to compliment their games?

defenders/rebounders
shooters

miller fits the bill on the latter. what kind of crazy open looks is he gonna get when the other three are on the court at the same time. how do you double anyone?

A ring is far from guaranteed. And you know why? Because of guys like Jason Williams and Juwan Howard.

And what's the over/under for Chris Bosh asking for a trade? Everyone thinks it's going to be rosy with those three players and only one ball. Bosh will be lucky to average 15 points on that team--which really waters down his influence on the team. Everyone is talking about the "Big 3", but the reality is that it will be more like the "Big 2 1/2".

wanna bet on the bosh 15pts/game? you're nuts in that respect.

Absolutely agree. That's one of the reason they signed Mike Miller. They are going to want shooters.

Yeah. I definitely think he's a great fit for them. Just not sure what else that will do getting the other size of the ledger that ouchie mentioned (defenders/rebounders)

Years ago the Warriors had 3 players average over 20 a game. These 3 will all get their points especially with the drop off to the rest of the team.

In a van...down by the river.
Where's my cyber cash?!
All LBJ,DWade and Bosh need are hard working blue-collar guys around them that will defer the basketball....mix it up a little inside and dive after loose balls....

Lou Amundson: job opportunity.

Heh. I was just going to ask if his daughter was miraculously healed.

I would never be critical of another man doing anything to help his daughter but I must admit that I have always been very suspicious of that move. Just add it to the list of suspicious acquisitions that comprise the current Los Angeles Lakers.

i never wanted to say anything negative about fisher, but on the court he's a little douche.
the guy's motive to move from the jazz to la it seems was just to be closer to a championship?? which he got.
and now he wants to play with the new big 3...?? for more titles??

Thanks Lebron.

Miami Dismisses Approximately 30 Staff Members Who Sold Season Tickets

In an effort to cut costs, the Miami Heat terminated all of its staff dedicated to selling season-ticket packages for the team.
The Heat dominated this summer's NBA free agency by signing LeBron James and Chris Bosh, while retaining Dwyane Wade.
Soon thereafter, the team sold out all of its season-ticket inventory and now has a waiting list with approximately 6,000 names.
About 30 staff members were dismissed from their employment with the Heat.

Not that I blame the Heat for eliminating the jobs, there's obviously no need for season ticket sellers anymore. I wonder if these people are still celebrating the arrival of Lebron. I bet the Cavs are in need of season ticket sellers... maybe they could move to Cleveland.
