Chalmers is the perfect PG for MIA now. They are set 1-4, but they need a 5 and some depth (obviously). Chalmers has averaged 2:1 points:assists since he came into the league and he has a low salary and he's not the focal point. For MIA, that's all they need. They need a guy like Chalmers, or a guy like Ridnour or a guy like Blake or a guy like Felton. They just need someone to bring the ball up who has decent passing skills. That's it - and they already have that in Chalmers.

In a 5, they need a guy like Biedrins, Camby, Perkins, Haywood or Chandler. Granted, the guys I listed there are all way too expensive for them, but I'm talking about rebounders and defenders who don't need to score, but can get their points on putbacks or blown coverages down low. That's it. If they get Shaq, that's a dumb move - and I liked Shaq here in PHX.

Bench? Well, they're gonna get a bunch of vet minimum charity from guys who want to ride the wave. They can look at late career guys who have been shafted like Finley from BOS.

They'll fill out, but they really have A LOT of work to do. I don't think MIA will make it out of the ECF. They are putting together a quiltwork team. It's not a team that is grown and developed as a team, they are just thrusting players together. I think a year from now, we'll be talking about what a disappointment MIA was after they got beaten in the ECF....

I still say the wisest basketball choice would have been Lebron in CHI. That's a plug-and-play roster right there waiting for a Lebron....

Ok, so now that Lebron has chosen Miami along with Bosh and Wade, will they now become the most hated team in the NBA?

Seriously, I have no idea how other people feel about this, but now, I want to see Miami fall on their faces year in and year out...

Why would Miami be the most hated team? It's not the organization's fault. I think LBJ will be vilified, not for what he did, but for how he did it. I'm not rooting for them to win, because I'm a Suns fan, not because I hate Miami for bringing in 3 star players.

I have no problems with his decision or the heat

I'm just glad it's not the knicks

i'm intrigued to see how it plays out ... how they fill out their roster, how they share the court, how they deal with expectations, the pressures on their coach and we should get some entertaining basketball out of it

all 3 of them play the game the right way

and I'm not wishing this by any means, but could you imagine if one of them went on a grant hill type injury streak and ended up handcuffing the entire team for a large salary and no production?!

Some possible guys Miami may go after now...

Steven Hunter,
Jamall Maglore,
Kurt Thomas,
Jerry Stackhouse,
Tony Battie,
Etan Thomas,
Matt Barnes,
Jason Williams,
Allen Iverson,
Jarron Collins,
Jawan Howard,
Sheldon Williams..

They could fill an interesting team if enough Vets agree to take a pay cut to win... somthing I think many will do...

For years, David Stern has manipulated the NBA, which has resulted in his glamour teams being put in a better position to win it all.

Most of us have certainly been vocal about it on this board. Especially since our Suns have not been one of the glamour teams. A novelty team, but not a strong one.

What I think most people resent about King James is his blatantly manipulating a ********* to join one team. And, with his ESPN spectacle, gloating about it.

But you must admit. He beat Stern at his own game. One ballplayer has upstaged the Commissioner.

Screw both of them.

How can you be sure that Stern wasn't somehow behind all of this to begin with?

You have a valid point... I didn't mean hate the Heat orginization or the city, I meant hate them the same way you hate the Yankees or the USC Trojans.. teams that are so much better in talent than everyone else, that you inheritly want to root against them....

except unlike CFB and baseball it's not as slanted of a field

every team works within the same salary structure and it's not like miami is some traditional major marketplace like NY or LA

miami took a pretty big gamble in clearing out cap space

if 3 guys decide they want to team up and find a way to play on a team if at all possible I have zero issue with it .... you still need to make it work with salaries and you still need to fill out a roster

on one hand you can't say that free agents want to play for such and such a team so they can benefit from being with a player (like many claim FAs would like to play with nash because he makes players better - even recent signings mention this possiblity) and then on the other hand get upset when two players are excited about the potential of signing with the same team as FAs

Go Heat!!!

Gonna love watching this.. Already nobody is talking about the Lakers.. And they just won the championship.. hahahaha.. You know Lakers fans are worried.. Theyll never admit it though.. But they scared..

LeBron you da man!!!!

Why the hell would I be scared? They have two great players, one very good player and beyond that a bunch of scrubs. Their two great players are a ball dominant wing and a ball dominant forward who will have to curtail their game tremendously in order to be successful, with everyone gunning for them.

The Lakers two great players complement each other quite well, and they now get to slide under the radar a bit in a three-peat bid. The top three guys are a decent matchup for the Lakers, too, and defensively the Lakers are loads better in their top three guys. Throw in Bynum, Artest, Fisher, Odom and now Blake and the Lakers have a lot more horsepower than a three headed snake in Miami, with scrub bench guys who couldn't play with Wade. What, are those guys going to play 45 minutes a night? No, I'm not worried at all.

When LeBron chose Miami over Chicago, I was extremely happy. Chicago was a tailor made situation for him, with a SOLID team, an up and coming star in Rose, a hard working ***** in Noah, Boozer in the mix, and a bench plus money to add more. Adding LeBron to that was a guaranteed trip to the Finals with a player in Rose that would exploit an area of great weakness for the Lakers. THAT would have worried me.

Superteam will be fun to watch, but there will be no rings in Miami. Absolutely hilarious that you are on board with this mutant team, Gee. Even when you jumped on the Celtic bandwagon, at least that big three was highly complementary.

In your dreams. :)

Bosh
James
Wade
Chalmers

They will get veterans like Raja Bell, Brad Miller, Shaq, Haslem, JO, Korver, Miller, Butler and others to fill out the roster nicely.

LOL! Yes, they will sign all those guys with all that money..oh wait, they used all that money to sign the three guys and won't have anything but the MLE/LLE and vets min to work with. Yeah, fill up that bench. Shaq? Oh please GOD let Shaq bounce on down to Miami! That would be icing on the cake.

it's too early to say how the heat team will come together ... i do agree that I think chicago was probably the best fit right now from a mix

i think in some aspects they will work tremendously well together and you have two guys who can absolutely collapse defenses and get to the rim creating chaos

it will take some good coaching to instill the proper ball movement, spacing and flow to keep it all moving though

I read multiple reports that Rose was not exactly warmly welcoming the potential presence of LeBron.. which is the only reason I could see of why he didn't end up in Chicago...

And just for the record, from Rose's perspective, he is a Chi-town native, I am sure he felt threaten that he would go from hometown savior to sidekick in one day if LeBron signed, so I think he had his reasons to not be rolling out the red carpet, the same way James did for not going there..

Well now we can add MIAMI to the short list of teams that are winning titles in this league over the last 25 years. MIAMI got one in '06 and will probably soon join the LAKERS,CELTICS,BULLS, SPURS,ROCKETS as the only 6 teams to win championships over that span of time.

This league sucks. David Stern must go,and a new way of spreading the wealth MUST occur at some point....right?

As long as the Lakers don't get anymore rings I am good with it. Ask me this question again though if they win 3 or 4.

Wow...not that the Shaq move would be bad but they need to get younger not older. I think they need some young legs to mix with those vets.

Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry was just happy James, Wade and Bosh remained in the East. He thinks the Heat should be considered favorites to advance to the NBA Finals – with one caveat.

“Chemistry,” Gentry said, “can be a strange thing.”
I was thinking a few days ago if the Heat get those three max players and then fill the roster up with veteran mins, they may end up with some really poor team chemistry. There is going to be a great imbalance on this team between the stars and the others.

You might have games where the starters will get big leads only to see them disappear when the bench is in the game. If they lose a few games like that, players will start pointing fingers at each other. You need some high-character veterans in leadership roles. You need quality role players. People tend to undermine the value of team chemistry. It takes time to build it, and you need the right mix of players.

Then again, if the Heat keeps winning, everyone will be happy. It's really hard to predict how this will turn out; it hasn't been done before in this league.

Didn't the Heat also get Dexter Pittman and Jarvis Varnado in Draft, as well?? Two of the better 2nd Rounders (in a deep Draft).
