Is there a NFL team out there that would start McCown next year?

Mcown is a great #2. I'd be happy to have him and a QBoF next year in addition to Warner.

One team no one mentioned that I wouldn't rule out is Dallas.... Yeah they have Henson.. But why wouldn't they have played him yesterday to give him some more reps in a meaningless game...As I think and it was mentioned last night on ESPN there really isn't a QB of the future there.... That could be a good spot for Josh... He has some good WR's there too that could help him and still getting coached by a good QB as well in Bledsoe... Just a thought...

I'd want the rookie to be getting the practice snaps as the #2. I just don't really want to be stuck with no rookie and John Navarre being the #2, or looking for Jeff Garcia or something to be the backup.

It would depend on what the Transition number is, but if he's going to be a backup somewhere else in the league, it might as well be here, if we're not going to get a first- or second-round QB of the future.

Well if Parcells goes off his own eyes he probably has no interest in Josh.

This year Josh was 16-33 with 2 picks and only 161 yards against dallas in a blowout loss. That game with the Titans the week before, got Josh benched when Warner returned healthy.

Henson has had a really tough year in Dallas, totally rebuilt mechanics, not going to surprise me one bit if they go after a QB, but I wouldn't expect it to be Josh. He is a Texas boy though.

Remember Warners last game as a Giant, there opponent. Hey stranger things have happened. But why would Bill Parcells like him.

Parcells historicly likes Pocket Passers Testeverde, Simms, Bledsoe. I just don't see this Parcells-McCown link others do.

the other thing is would Josh want to play for a coach as tough on QB's as parcells is? Josh's history suggests to me he wouldn't play well in NY, would want no part of replacing Favre in Green Bay, and won't want to play for a demanding coach like Parcells.

But go to Detroit and you're a hero the day you sign, the fans hate Harrington and apparently so do many of the players.

Yes good points. That is an IF Parcells comes back as coach... But I agree with your points. I was throwing it out there that Dallas might be a team overlooked that could be very well in the run for a QB....

I think Josh would be fine here if we protected him, and got him a running game. He has showed some signs of promise at times.

I agree. Josh is a Texas boy, so he might actually sign a lesser contract to play for the team he grew up loving. Bledsoe is getting old, so Josh could sign with Dallas, be a back up for a year,a nd then be in contention for a starting shot.

I can almost guarantee that McCown winds up as the Packers new QB...

So, McCown is good enough for the Cowboys, Packers, KC and the Raiders, but not up to the Cards high standards... :biglaugh:

Raiders would be my best bet.

They like Walter a lot, he's having offseason surgery on that groin injury otherwise he probably would have played down the stretch.

It all hinges on a midnight trip to Pottsville.

He needs to make right to shake the curse, Plummer did this, it's a little known fact that hours after leaving the Cardinals Plummer flew to Pottsville and washed several old peoples feet behind the laundry mat until his curse guru gave him the nod that it should be good.

McCown could end up as a Texan. They have to exercise an $8mil option on Carr if they are to keep him. They might not do that if Josh could be had for $2.5mil and gets to hand off to Reggie Bush and throw to Andre Johnson. There new coach might want to allocate money to fix there line rather than stay with Carr. I would not stay with him for Franchise money. He is not a Franchise Qb...never was.

Carr is staying put and Josh will probably make $3 mil a year or so

Not to stir the pot, but if we all agree that no one is going to give starter's money to Josh McCown--he'll get nothing near what Warner got from us--then what's the downside to placing the "Transition" tag on McCown. I don't know what the transition number is this offseason (Joeshmo? A little help?), but if it's reasonable, there's no reason we can't rescind it if we don't find a QBotF in the draft.

WOW....your a madman from he will be selling insurance next season to he might be the best FA out there to backup Warner....all in the course of a season...your all over the place...my hats off to ya:thumbup:

If he gets that much I am not sure the Cards would bring him back. Warner should get 6mil on the FA open market, thats not to say I would want to give him that but he could command it if the Ravens get in a bidding war for him. Josh wouldn't be re-signed if Kurt gets that much from us. Not for 3mil. What tells you Carr will be back with that high of a number? They will have to decide before FA begins...I am not as sure they will keep him. I wouldn't pay him that.

Josh isn't coming back.

As for his price tag its a simple matter of supply and demand. The demand for QBs is high, the supply of even adequate QBs is low. The top two rated FA QBs this year ... Warner and McCown.

I said back when Kurt got the starting job back that we had seen the last of McCown unless Kurt gets hurt again, which he did. I to think he will get a sizable contract elsewhere and do not think he will be back. My question to you was why do you think that the option for Carr will be picked up? I could see a new coach wanting to go in a different direction.

I think more teams are going to be interested in Aaron Brooks and Joey Harrington than McCown or Warner.

They don't have to pick up the option they can negotiate it the way Denver did with Jake. Jake had a huge bonus and Denver only paid a fraction of it, they deferred the rest.

The owner has supposedly said he wants to keep Carr, but I guess it's up to the new coach now. If they cut Carr loose it would be interesting to see how many more offers he gets than Josh.

I prefer Carr but he does hold the ball too long and he's not learned to avoid sacks. He's got the arm Green loves, but he's very much a work in progress.

Maybe. I think McCown will generate about the same amount of interest, though. Heck, of the three I might even stick with McCown.
