Releasing Bradley is really not a good option. Only save around $2 million and would leave us nothing but 35 year old Paris Lenon at SILB. Well I guess any $$$ helps and Bradley can be replaced by a 4-7th round draft pick. Maybe.

Cut all the fat (dont wait till we sign a guy and then cut to free up space) right now and go after Carl Nicks or Vincent Jackson. Cut Stewart and go after Tulloch, etc.

You should be upset when we are doing nothing right now because in 24 hours only the scabs will remain.

We were never going for Nicks or Jackson, and if we did, it would mean we were not getting Peyton Manning. Even the Broncos, with all of their cap room, couldn't afford to go for two players like that and keep in the Peyton Manning race.

Guys like Demetrius Bell will remain available a few days into free agency, and those are the types we need to target. Someone that can be an economical replacement and upgrade to Brown & Keith.

We're in the top 2-3 teams in the Manning race, and that's pretty spectacular in itself. He's by far the biggest fish in the pond.

This sucks watching everybody else pursue guys and sign difference makers.

Here the Cardinals are with their thumb up their butt awaiting Peytons answer, and even if (or when) he declines AZ, we still wont have alot of cash to go get guys.

49ers signing guys. Rams are making out like bandits in the draft. Seattle has cash to burn on guys. I feel like everyone around us is improving and we are sitting stagnant.

This is how you go 6-10.

Guess what? The Cards had lots of cap space for a lot of years when they would not (could not) compete. I like having some real players on the roster for a change. We still need more, but I don't mind waiting to see what we can do 'reasonably'. Not a bad thing having to wait on Manning to decide in my opinion.

lack of team needs and knowledge is shown through complaining posts about how we havent signed all of these flashy high priced guys that we dont need.

I havent made a negative thread in awhile. My last few have been speculative of players.

You guys are OK with waiting 3 or 4 days before going after guys? We did that last year too with the WRs and we wound up with Andre and Early.

The best go fast, thats why you need to jump in now. Cut all the fat (dont wait till we sign a guy and then cut to free up space) right now and go after Carl Nicks or Vincent Jackson. Cut Stewart and go after Tulloch, etc.

We already had andre and Early and didnt feel we needed another reciever. Would you prefer we signed Braylon? Im for how last year went. we blew mad cash.

Must be nice having cap space eludes to how WE SPENT IT ALL!!!!! yet we are complaining. boohoo.

Just a year or so ago, a lot of people on here were complaining about the Cards not spending enough on their players and now they are complaining because the Cards spent too much. :bang:

I agree with the title and disagree with the post.

Yeah, the track record of teams that throw ridiculous money at "difference makers" on the first day of free agency is really good. Wise decisions, reasonable contracts.

Teams who have cap space, have cap space because they don't have guys like Fitz/Docket/ADub/CC that are worthy of eating it up.

On the bright side, think of that great, high draft pick that will be waiting for us!!! :p

Theres a difference between spending and spending wisely. Im not saying sign guys for the hell of it. Your right, we did have a huge payroll

Porter - 5.5
Stewart - 6
Chansi Stuckey - 2.3

I could keep going.

You guys are content that we have a big pay roll like that represents anything other than the fact that we overpay mediocre players.

Every team has a few overpaid players. Do you also consider the 11 million Fitz is do this year, the franchise tender CC is due, Docket and ADub's salaries as being overpaid? Combined they make a lot more then the mediocre players we're overpaying for.

And how many of those guys do you think will still be with the team this year? The problem with FA's is you never know how they will do in a different scheme than what they are used to. Probably half of them never make it up to the salary level they get through FA. At least the Cards FO is smart enough to set up contracts to allow themselves to get out of them without too much damage. You can't do that with big name FA's like Fitz or Manning.

I do not know how we ended up with so little CAP space while much better teams have a lot of CAP space. Is this a function of the GM or some guy who wears a green visor cap and counts beans? It seem like every year at this time I see many teams signing people to long contracts while we are like the Invisible Man. Maybe this is my imagination. Apparently if there is a way to save money you can be sure that Mr. B knows all the angles on this.

The Cubs were sold recently to a rich family. The Ricketts family. Brothers, sisters and all have jobs in the Cub organization and of course sit on the board of directors. One of the first things that has happened is the payroll dropped from around $134 million a year to $91 million a year. The reason, so say the new owners, is to prepare for the future. The team let go of the two top home run and RBI men and replaced them with unknowns. All this according to the new owners to build for the future. Chicago is a big market city who regularly fills up Wrigley and draws over 3 million fans a year. They will soon strike it rich with some sort of big TV deal. Family owned business in a major sport like baseball where the entire family runs the business is scary at best. Always follow the money to get to the real truth.

I'm ok with the Cards approach as there has not been many signed that I believed would be a good fit. I want offensive linemen over WRs, DEs and CBs. I just hope we don't spend 10 mil of 4 crappy offensive linemen and pass on spending 10 mil on a guy like Eric Winston. At some point we need to realize that it is important to add top players to your offensive line.

The next one will be the first during the Russ Grimm era. He seems to emphasize the ability to run-block and totally disregards the ability to pass-protect. In the pass-happy Whisenhunt offense that is bass-ackwards IMO.

But 40 we have scouts and coaches who are paid rather large sums of money to know these things. And so do all the other teams who have FAgents bust on them. Why is it that they miss so often? Because the majority of scouts and coaches aren't football geniuses just guys who knew somebody who got them a job.

C'mon Dj. You don't really believe this? Like any other business, BS will only get you so far. The NFL is results oriented and the guys with the most talent naturally rise to the top.

The reason FA's don't work out all the time is because of the different schemes run by different teams and how those FA's fit into those schemes. Even the best player evaluaters can only use their best judgement in determing if the player will fit or not. It's just like the draft. Only about one half of the players drafted in the first round play up to their level and that's for all NFL teams. When it comes to judging human behavior, there is no scientific formula that will work. Only educated guesses.

Not true 40. That's living in a dream world. These guys get their jobs because they coached with this guy or that guy at this or that University or somebody saw them as a ball boy at a camp somewhere. Why do you think they get fired all the time and certain coaches, who really are geniuses, kick the crap out of the others the majority of the time?

If the cream always rose to the top you wouldn't have teams hiring new coaching staffs every 3-5 seasons all the time.
