Neither had Chip Kelly.Don’t see how he was the least bit qualified. Has never even been on a NFL staff.
Neither had Chip Kelly.
What 5 star recruits are jumping up to go Lubbock Texas? Damn Dungy with his NFL experience didnt quite light up the college game with a far better program in ASU. I actually give the man props for staying @ TTU for that long without moving on to better team.
Being Keim wanted McVay before everyone wanted the next McVay leads me to believe that Keim has done his research on both awhile back when he was expecting BA to retire in 2016. KK may have been on his radar then.
I understand the arguments against KK, but what are the arguments for the other candidates?
There is no perfect choice obviously... But, Taylor? Why?? Based on what?? And whatever that is, is it really anything more compelling than what Klingsbury brings to the party??
That was Mike B's hire not Keims. Then why in the world hire a guy like Wilks in 2018?
All good points.Don't like it one bit.
Wreaks of desperation and lack of ability to identify a good NFL coach.
Are the players going to buy into this, after they went through a rookie NFL coach with Wilks ?
Good thing the roster has pass blocking offensive linemen, and a bunch of good wide receivers.
Oh, and a great defense against the run so that our defense is not out on the field for 3/4 of the game.
Oh, yeah, this is going to be great. Do we get a propaganda web series on Facebook like last year ?
I agree that this is risky, but we are not left wondering wtf the offense will look like like we were with Wilks and having no QB when we hired him. Feels good man.
None of this has described any of the candidates.NFL experience.
Know how to build a NFL roster from the scrap heap we currently have.
Can establish a culture.
Can get players to buy into the system.
You know, they know how to coach in the NFL and how to be successful.
I know it would not be interesting to hire a guy like Jim Caldwell, but when you get your doors blown off every game during the season that seem to be a little more important than hype, and a desperate reach following a trend based off of a single national game played this season.
I am talking about college football in it's current state. It's all about the money right now & dont see TTU dropping so called 100 grand loans to students parents lol
If he is a Mike Leach disciple they why didn't we go after Mike Leach?
He has a much better record as a coach.
I'm very cautious about this hire. Don't know whether to be excited or disappointed. No NFL experience and a losing record in college. We had better have plans to bring in a strong DC an OC to help keep the team together.
That was Mike B's hire not Keims.

Huh? USC got him as OC. Landing a coordinator position at USC is not some highly coveted job. It's not like we were trying to pull him from a top 5 perrenial.
Dude sounds legit; his reported info squares with what subsequently went down. I you buy it, be on the lookout for a pricey, high profile DC (Note - I have no clue who that might be).Sorry 5 days ago by Mr. Chip Kelly

Insider intel on y'all's head coach hunt

RUMOR
Hey guys, never posted in y'all's sub before but I figured I'd pass along some intel that I believe to be very, very reliable. As you can see from my flair I'm an Eagles fan so I don't have any bias here (although it'd be nice for Larry to stop dad-dicking us every time we play), I'm just reporting what I've heard for the sake of sharing information with fans who care. As you might be able to tell from my "y'all"s, I'm from Texas, and I have some family and friends working at one of the biggest sports agencies in the country and every time they've been able to tell me info, it's been right. Usually I know which Texas/OU/A&M/Baylor/TCU/etc. players are going pro a few weeks before other people.
So that said, I'll cut to the chase: multiple people have told me that Kilff Kingsbury has been offered the Cardinals HC gig. His interview went well, and it sounds like ownership is hell-bent on finding some offensive juice to command the team. The plan, apparently, is to give Kingsbury the ultimate reigns to the team but to basically open the checkbook completely on the DC hire.
I don't want to burn any of my friends or family who told me about this stuff, so you can take this info for whatever you like. I totally understand if it's too out there for most of y'all to believe, but if/when Kingsbury gets hired hopefully you'll have gotten some heads up. Good luck next year!
I have watched 75 % of the KK coached Texas Tech games for the last 4 years. He electrified that fanbase. Even in the losses, with a bunch of 2* recruits they put on one helluva show. That stadium was a packed house every game. The only people in Lubbock who did not like the success rate were the "whale boosters", the same guys who ran Mike Leach out of town.My question is, why are people fans of KK? What has he done to earn your praise? Mahomes?
Telling that he couldn’t win with Mahomes in my book.
