They must be getting this information from Chad Ford.

honestly, whenever a KG trade rumor shows up on Sportscenter, they HAVE to pre-lap the song: Welcome back my friend to the show that never ends...

The only problem with the idea of this clearing room for Garnett is that the Suns would no longer have anyone at SF. Since the trade would have to move out Thomas and either Marion or Stoudemire, that leaves the Suns with only three frontcourt players: Garnett, Marion or Stoudemire (whoever is left), and Diaw. Diaw can't guard SFs, and even if he could, the Suns have literally no depth at C/F.

Jones has his weaknesses, but he would play a bigger role on the Suns in any Garnett scenario, out of sheer necessity. Dump him too, and the rotation starts looking impossibly thin.

By the way, remember three years ago when the Suns dumped a bunch of contracts, and everyone said they were clearing room for Bryant?

Well, I can believe that we're still getting jerked around. The Garnett conspiracy is so powerful now -- and I'll readily admit that I was suckered into it, until a few hours ago -- that any move now just looks like more evidence supporting it.

But no, the Suns dumped Jones for cash, because they are trying to ease their LT burden and didn't think he was worth $6 million per year.

Trading Jones in a cap dump only makes sense if the Suns are SURE they will get Hill.

08-09 Suns lineup:

Nash
Bell
Marion
Diaw
Stoudemire

Barbs, KT, Banks, Pike, Tucker, Strawberry

Banks is our 8th man. I hope Tucker and Strawberry pan out.

I really hope that's the mindset behind the move. It would make any Amare/KT for KG trade sounds even more stupid, that we end up with two big bloated contracts in KG and Marion.

Maybe the Suns found out that the NBA was switching back to a composite ball next year and figured 3 mil was a good deal for James Jones.

James Jones ain't getting playing time anymore, it only makes sense.

Tucker will take his role , even if Hill didn't come to Phoenix, Jones would likely not be in the rotation.

The selling of the draft pick suddenly makes sense...

1. 3M$ from Portland
2. 3M$ of off cour cap = 6M$ saved
3. Not paying 1M$ for a rookie = 2M$ saved.
----------------
This trade saves the Suns 11M$ this season that they can use to get 2 players that are likely to produce more than Jones and #24 for less.

Dumping Banks would have been better however.. Maybe we can still get rid of Banks, Piatkowski and Thomas with the Atlanta pick. That way we could possibly you our full MLE and sign a couple of veterans.

a rookie who has no outside shot whatsoever and hs no NBA experience is gonna take JRs role regardless of what happens during FA?

I actually understand why they are doing this but its like not drafting players on draft nite is like going to the fair with no money watching everyone else having fun....

No money at the Az fair is less than $100 or equal to a first round pick

James Jones has no outside shot either.

Regardless of what happens, yes. If we signed nobody Alando Tucker could take Jones role definately.

Have we forgotten how utterly terrible James Jones was this season? I am way more confident with Tucker getting playing time then James Jones.

it's better than a rookie with no outside shot whatsoever. Or are you telling me that a rook with poor shooting skills is gonna shoot 38% from 3?

If the Suns could come away with Channing Frye, Garnett and the only starting player they lose is Marion. I'd jump for joy at that one

I am sure he will shoot better than 39%FG and play the 15mpg that Jones got. But it won't even be that since the Suns will sign Grant Hill anyway.

Ryan, are you really letting yourself get sucked into this again?

that's not what I asked. If he's playing the JR role, he needs to be a shooter or have you not watched every suns game for the last three years with DA philosophy?

Again, I'll ask - do you think he'll be a 38% three-point shooter?

We are NOT getting Channing Frye guys. No one is talking about getting Channing Frye except mystified posters who are trying to make sense of an abysmal day.

This is the cry every year, "we had a deal all worked out, and then they pulled out." If the deal was worked out, they wouldn't have pulled out.

What a load of crap.

No but he will be better than James and that is all that matters.

but Gambo and Ash said it's a given and you've gone on record NUMEROUS times saying they're ALWAYS WRONG and should apologize to you about the KG deal you said was going to happen (but didn't). so how are we gonna get Hill anyway if Gambo and Ash are ALWAYS wrong?

but he won't fit the system and DA has demonstrated THAT is all that matters. Or have you not been watching for the last three years?
