Portland radio is saying that the reason the Zach and Rudy trades arent officially announced is that James Jones is going to Portland for a trade exception that they get from New York or something like that but that they are definately getting Jones.

I thought you can't combine trade exceptions with players so how would Portland get one from New York?

However looking at the contracts the Blazers have it only makes sense if we get nothing in return. We save 3M$. Frye is too valueable he won't be in the deal unless we gave up Atlantas pick I guess, Jack makes too little money to work financially I'd think if there was no exception and Webster makes just the same amount as Jones and is also expiring.

I thought you just can't use two exceptions in one deal. But in JR case, it's simpler than that. Blazers and Knicks complete their trade first and then Blazers trade for JR with the exception from that trade.
