Too bad. Whis made his bed. Matt will move on and succeed

No one will take Leinart's contract to have him hold a clipboard. It took him 4 years to almost learn the Cards offense ( except for deep routes). He will get cut. Maybe Seattle will pick him up for the vet minimum. They are already paying their #2 $4M.

Well this board is going to be just more fun than usual, I have re-thought this offseason, it's a sign all is right with the world, we're back to being dysfunctional again.

Matt not being the QB, that's fine, DA being the QB?

NOT FINE!!!

I hope I'm proven wrong ala Warner, that would be great, and it will cement Whiz as some football genius.

Now he attempts to take a total castoff and remake him instead of just playing Matt one year then getting our QB of the future.

The man has stones I'll give hime that.

I also promise NOT to unleash the deserved can of internet whoop@ss come about game 5 even if it's deserved, at that point watching the meltdown in silence will be more fun.

i know you are joking, but Whitehurst has played the worst of all 3 QBs. His last two games were AWFUL.

Whitehurst played with the 2nd and 3rd teams most of that time. Leinart had 4 years to learn the offense. Whitehurst had a few months. The reason why Seattle had to overpay for Whitehurst was that AZ was driving up the price. They wanted Whitehurst more than Anderson. The true professionals evaluate Whitehurst a lot higher than hack observers.

It is almost a sure thing that Leinart will be gone and I could not care at all. He has been acting like a completely spoiled brat towards the media and still doesn't even realize why he hasn't earned the job despite Whiz already telling the media that he wants him to throw bigger passes and stop the ultra conservative play..

Time for the Max Hall era. :koolaid:

And, he was playing against second and third stringers.

The professionals blow NFL player evaluations all the time. Every team, every year, multiple players. That's why we fans have grounds to second-guess them. It's far from an exact science. Hell, if they get over 50% success on their draft picks and free agents that's actually pretty good. I'd love to get a gig where I could be right half the time and make that much money.

I figure they're asking for at least a 1 and a 3. Let's face it, the guy is a proven winner at every level and so far this preseason he's clearly been the best QB in the league. 110% completion percentage and a 190 QB rating IIRC. Maybe a 1 and a 2 is too little?

Steve

Sorry, but a 6-10 career record as a starter doesn't equal winner. I doubt the Cards get anything for him in trade, nobody wants to pick up his salary and more importantly, the $11 million dollar roster bonus he would get next year. He will end up being cut and then someone will pick him up for the NFL minimum and let the Cards pay the rest of his salary for this year.

I think he was being sarcastic.

Only for the Cards where they top 10 picks. When Boone was here, our drafting sucked.

I would say that picks like Lomax, Anderson, Green, Mitchell, Ej Juinior, Charlie Baker, Freedie Joe Nunn, Leonard Smith, , Luis Sharpe, Curtis Greer, Tootie Robbins, Joe Bostic, Lionel Washington, Jay Novacek are name that come to mind that they far from sucked!!! Those teams had some very good talent on both sides of the ball, yeat never had enough defense much like the Cards of today. Did Boone hit & miss with some high picks? Of Course, but doesn't all teams? Boones staff seemed to usually be right on rds 1-3 hitting more often than not. The mid early to mid 80's Cards teams were exciting & fun teams to watch while Hanifan lead them. Boone IMO gets a bad wrap because he drafted guys like Clyde Duncan, Kelly Stouffer & John Lee. I would call Boone's time with the Cards average, not bad.

What the hell does that have to do with Whiz and THIS issue? He wasn't the coach then and the fact that a team keeps all their #1 picks is indicative of nothing in as much as the vast majority of number one picks never reach the levels predicted for them.

um, wouldn't it follow that a team who keeps most of it's number picks likely has seen those picks reach the levels predicted for them?

Is this guy for real?

Uh, too late Cards. Should have done this ages ago. Idiotic mismanagement if this is true.

Totally agree. Why trade for him when you know he'll be released? Stupid.

I don't doubt for a second that ML wants out, and I don't blame him. I think he got the royal shaft the last couple of weeks.

I don't blame him either. I know I feel underappreciated at my job, and I freaking hate going there most days. I imagine Leinart has similar feelings, though everyone on the planet knows his workplace situation.

I had an interesting thought today. What if DA goes down tomorrow and is out for, say, half the season? Do we encourage Matt to stick around and play? Would he even do that? Would we try to sign some other QB or start Max Hall? It's a weird thought, but something that just came into my head.

OBTW, how many #1 picks did we have on the SB team?

The Cards had 5. The Steelers had 9. I'm sure you remember who won and also who won Super Bowl XL?

The Steelers and the Colts are two teams that have kept their #1 picks for a long time. It is no coincidence that they have been two of the most successful teams this decade despite coaching changes while the Cards were one of the least successful until 2008.

You sound just like the people who defended the Cards during 2002/03 off season.

The 2003 team was one of the worst Cardinal teams ever finishing dead last in points scored and points allowed. They only had 2 first picks on that team who weren't rookies. But hey they sure had a bunch of the UDFAs and of course Jeff Blake at QB.

Well, I hate to bring this thread back on topic but ESPN is saying the Raiders and Giants are the front-runners in the Leinart trade sweepstakes.

More info from Glazer, looks like his sources was the actual teams themselves. Teams were calling him as a reference to Matt's character since they have and continue to work together.

Concerning the 3 teams brought up by Schefter - The Raiders loved him in the 2006 draft. Matt thought he was going to be a Raider because Al Davis told him he was their pick, but Huff runs a super fast 40 and that was that. Al Davis might still really like him and is exactly the crazy type of person to trade for him Jason Campbell, contract and all. Bills deny wanting Matt and Schefter clarified that the Bills might be interested because they did have conversations with the Cards this Summer, they probably arent interested anymore though. Not sure what is up with the Giants though.

Matt told Whis play me or trade me is my guess. This could have been orchastrated since last season. Whis says great things about Matt and his hard work, he names him the guy. Matt works hard and other teams cans see he is committed so Whis gives him just enough playing time to look good and then trots out the not great chemistry with teammates and intangebles tripe and now we have trade rumors. ESPN tags along because they hate any thing West Coast that is successful like Matt Leinart. Can you say aaaggeeennndaaa. Matt is done here. This sucks. Our season is doomed. Might as well put Fitz on the IR now and stock a full bar. Oh no.....WE SUCK AGAAIN!!

Other NFL teams are not going to be fighting over who gets Matt. His appearance as a playboy attitude case hurts his chances. He also has a not so strong arm who has shown no real ability to move the ball down field on a consistent basis. He must have really pissed off Whiz in one way or the other which is not a good idea for any player. We have a lot of people on the board and in the media around the country who do not think much of Matt. Where there is smoke there is fire. This want be the first QB we drafted high at our #1 who did not make it. It happens all the time around the NFL. Fortunately Whiz was not part of his selection process. I along with many others on the board thought we had really hit the lottery when Matt fell into our laps. I was wrong and was certainly a Matt fan for a time. Not any more. Who knows, we may have lightning strike with Anderson. He has had big games in the past and he can get the ball down field with authority. He is more mobile than Matt so if he ends up as our QB it is best to get behind him. If Matt is the starter I will be a big supporter as long as he deserves it.

Holy Crap! My roommates a Raiders fan who constantly gives me crap about Matt. It would be AMAZING if we traded Matt to his favorite team!

If the Cards are smart IMO they would only be asking for conditional 2012 draft pick or picks because of the contract issue that may be scaring teams off.

If Matt ends up working out a new deal and stays with the team in 2012 the Cards get a higher pick in 2012, if Matt ends up not coming to a new deal and gets cut because of his contract we only get a 6th or 7th rounder in 2012. I think that may be the best option to get a team to bite on a deal so we at least get something.

Man, if the Raiders are willing to give up a first for Seymour at this point in his career....get Al on the line!
