Eddie Johnson is right. Ayton has to learn to put his body into players inside when shooting the ball inside.

That foul on TJ and that goaltending were both terrible calls.

I was okay with the foul call (borderline but not really a bad call) but the missed block on that goaltending call was pretty obvious.

Ayton is clueless in pick and roll defense. He consistently does the exact wrong thing.

I'd buy "occasionally does the exact wrong thing" but no, he does not consistently blow the pick and roll defense IMO.

That's a hard thing for some players to learn. Jumping into the shot blocker/rim protector doesn't come naturally especially for players that tend to worry about picking up fouls. I remember when the light went on for Goran and he became a force taking the ball into the big guys - I think he single-handedly ruined Roy Hibbert's career IMO when he showed the rest of the league how weak of a defender he really was if you played him that way.

Not really.

But this is where you have to credit Utah it’s what they do. They’ve perfected that pick and role there they’ve been running it for 30 years. There a really good passing team

If Ayton were more aggressive going for the basket I think it would become more natural... using his body that way.

Gobert is using his shoulder going into players on offense.

Suns are playing well. Utah is just playing better. Suns just have to keep attacking Gobert. TJ and Oubre both did it the right way a couple of times. Jump into him!

I don't want to say it but Ayton was intimidated by Gobert inside plain and simple.

The Suns should get him an easy shot cutting to the basket to get his confidence going.

Zero points, zero free throws, 0-5 for Ayton? He can’t keep being intimidated by other guys size. Not this far into his pro career at his size. This isn’t all new to him anymore.

Gobert is a tough matchup for most bigs. He's about to be a 3 time first team All Defense and is likely to win his second DPOY in just a few months. He's a little taller, a little stronger, a little older and a lot longer than Deandre so I'm not too worried about it. Especially since he didn't just give up, he came back and did some good things defensively.

Korver with the assist and then the 3 pointer helps bump up the Jazz lead to 72-64.

He just seems scared to use his body and push his way into the basket.

I hope Ayton snaps out of it but the slow start seems to have effected his game.

last time these teams played was Feb 6th

Ayton 20 points 10 rebounds 10-19

Gobert 16 points 12 rebounds 5-8

Now all of a sudden he’s scared of him? Is he having a bad game? Worst game of his rookie year? Yes but is he scared of him? No. How quickly people forget.

I get it he’s playing bad but to jump to he’s scared is a bit drastic this ain’t the first time he’s seen him, relax
