I wish him all the luck in the world. I'm 32 yrs old and still in decent shape (reality- I would get killed in an NFL game). If he's been hitting the gym the last few years, and it sounds like he doesn't have to spend half his day working a 40 hr job, and can afford the top trainers and nutritionist, he might be able to pull it off. For a minimum salary, all he really needs to do is show he is average and he should stick. He's not getting paid as a starter, and I doubt the Jets expect him to become a starter.

I wonder if he even talked with the Cards or does he feel the Cards screwed him over? It would be nice to see him make a comeback in Cardinal Red, especially if he still lives in the valley. Good Luck Andre!

No he does not live in the valley. He is a Florida boy.

That's not what Len P's article says. The Dateline is from Phoenix, and he says that he lives and owns a car dealership "here".

But I wouldn't hold it against Andre if he didn't want to play for the Cards. That was hardly an amicable relationship when he was here, and it wouldn't be surprising if he held some of his past medical problems against team doctors who let him play while unjured.

I think this is a good place for him. They run a 3-4 and he won't be counted on to be a dominant pass rusher...just needs to plug holes and gaps.

I thought that Len P said that he was going to be a "hybrid" player in their 3-4 defense. I don't think that he's quite big enough to anchor against the run. At least from what I read from the article, it seemed like he was going to be a stand-up rush LB or a guy who can play in a two- and three-point stance...

The Valley so low.
The article says he played in all 16 games his rookie year. My memory may be bad, but I thought he got injured in that very first game, followed by a giant stink about how he wasn't in condition to play because of the holdout. The pre-training camp hype about him being a model citizen turned into acrimony about who was to blame for this foul-up, him/agent or the Cards front office. And he missed games, or at least a lot of PT. If I'm wrong, please inform. My memory includes a lot of resentment, spread between both sides for handling things so badly that a potential Godsend for the Cards turned into another whiff.

Also, is there any info on how his physical condition has changed--is it just rehab/conditioning?

I think he did come in and play a few downs in the first game. I don't think he got hurt, but he wasn't in game shape. I could be wrong. I think they signed him at the last minute. That was when Jr was in charge of negotiating contracts. He stunk and that's why we always had holdouts until Michael took over. It's very different front office from what it used to be.

It's tremendously different. You should read the AzRep's archived articles sometimes ( they have them online back to 1999). There were so many contract problems it'll take you all day to read about all of them.

I wish him well, but dude is 32 years old; hasn't played for 6 years...

His mind is lying to his body, don't matter what kind of shape he has gotten into. He will be an occaisonal role player at best, for maybe a year or two, again, at best.

I'm sure that Wads doesn't think that he's going to be a superstar or the next Bruce Smith, as he was anticipated to be a decade ago. I think that he really just wants a chance to play and leave the game on his own terms. I think that honestly he'd love to be an occaisional role player for a year or two.

Yeah, I get that...

I just think it's a tough order even at that, but good luck to him!

What guy doesn't want to set his own terms... :|
