They just played a Ric Bucher clip on ESPNews and he is now saying the Suns would include Amare for KG if KG were willing to waive his trade kicker................

Bucher is full of it. Garnett doesn't have the option of waiving his kicker unless the numbers of the trade demand it.

To me it sounds like charlotte doesn't think an 8 pick is going to do very much for them (and it wouldn't), and they definately already have enough young talent.

Might as well save some cash (and probably make it when the suns would send cash considerations aka 1-3 million their way) and get some young but cheap talent in a #8 for ATL 08/#24/#29 deal. Who knows, if the atlanta pick ends up in the top 3 they might get something really nice even in that draft...

If we can swing this deal, and than put the #8 up for minessota in a deal mchale would be a complete imbecile not to take #5/#8 (nasty when combined with their own #7) in a three way.

THAT is how you rebuild a team right there, it is under the term rebuild in the nba dictionary: 3 first rounders in the top 10 in a deep draft.

*edit: Personally, I think anyone talking anymore of us sending Amare for KG is a complete and utter dummy poopie butt fart head (beats linking swear words I guess). Tape it, write it, underline it, and send it back to me after next week if Amare gets traded because now for us to give up amare would be incredibly, disgustingly, stupid.

Would you guys be willing to trade Marion, Thomas and all of the Suns picks for KG? That makes the bench shorter than it was last year.

Thats what I had thought too. Not to mention an Amare/Diaw or KT doesn't make sense for the Suns.

That seems to be the hot rumor of the moment, with the late picks being routed to Charlotte to get the #8 to Minnesota (along with the #5 from Boston).

If the Suns somehow engineer a Marion for Garnett trade without giving up Barbosa, I won't get my jaw off the floor for 72 hours. Most of this board had low expectations for the picks anyway, given how recklessly the Suns have been willing to discard them in recent years. And if the core is Nash/Garnett/Stoudemire/Barbosa/Bell/Diaw/Jones, you don't need a whole lot more anyway.

Not all of the picks. They need at least one promising rookie who can play some minutes. Cheap contract, probably better player than they can find for the minimum.

One of the same local guys I believe is feeding Gambo suggests the Suns are hoping their favorite small forward falls to them at #29 and will attempt to sign PJ Brown on the cheap in free agency.

Gambo and this guy are the only two people I've heard mention PJ Brown, but it would make sense to have one reliable veteran 4/5 on the roster rather than Grant Hill if this deal goes down.

But this was before the Charlotte rumor got started.

If we got KG in that package, I would have to think that Grant Hill would definitely want to come here to start at the 3.

I would certainly hope so. I'd love to get KG, but given the luck this team has had the last few years, it'd be nice to go with more than a 7 man rotation + scrubs.

Why would you want to send Marion in a trade for the #8 pick? That's just not very smart and I don't see us having any chance to win at all if we give him up for nothing and a pick.

Last thing before I rejoin my wife for the night ... the Suns feel like they're operating from a position of power, if things start to fall apart, they've told the ops staff to be prepared for Plan B, Plan C, etc. All their deals are right there at the fingertips, like file folders.

But the thing is if we got KG and signed PJ and lets say kept the 29, would the 29 get any minutes? My answer is definately not. What I would do if we kept the 29 is package it with banks for an expiring. Or maybe include banks and the #29 as part of the deal to minny.

I like young talent don't get me wrong, but with limited or no minutes for a #29 pick nothing is going to pan out IMO.

No, Marion goes to Boston for the #5. The other picks go to Charlotte for the #8. (So goes the rumor of the moment.)

I'd think so. Maybe if we told him, "Hey, we can't give any money, but stay for two championships and we'll put you in the Ring of Honor." (I don't think that's unreasonable).

YES, YES,and HELL YES!!! 3 finishers..... Who could stop us? They cant focus on anyone with Bell, Barbs waiting at the 3 point line. Hill and Diaw wow , I think I just messed myself thinking of it!

PJ wouldn't get any more minutes than KT did, and would be used in a similar fashion as KT: by matchup. With that understood, the question becomes who plays small forward, and even if you land Hill you're still talking about another key 15 minutes.

Let's just say the Suns would like to have a young small forward who can shoot to keep Diaw motivated.

Yeech.

There is a chance this would create some matchup problems for the Spurs. ;)

Is it Belinelli they hope will fall? Most have him listed as an SG but I guess 6' 6'' is not to short to play SF. His stock seems to be rising though Ford's latest mock has him going to the spurs at 30.

Other message boards are saying Gray said "serious talk" and it is contingent on Marion signing an extenstion with Boston. Thus I have little faith it will happen, as it is shawn marion's destiny to screw us (sorry chris sanders, I'm just compelled to say it).

While it's hard to argue with Marion's destiny, I did say a while back that there was a good chance Marion's objections to Boston were intended to be a bargaining point towards signing an extension there.

OK, going to read the rest of the thread now. ;)

Haha if this goes down I CANT WAIT to email Mark Asher and John Gambo and rub it in that I was right and they were wrong.
They were saying that it would definately be Amare for KG and not Marion and that Amare + KG is impossible salary wise.

When I tried to argue with Asher he kept writing back sarcastic emails "You win", "You are right"... l
Yup, you have said it from the beginning. And I have agreed with you 100%.

If you believe the reports that the MT were in negotiations with Dallas for a deal that didn't include Dirk then they certainly can't come back to the Suns and demand Amare. They screwed the pooch with that one.

I say screw the MT and their demands for Amare. Either they take Marion or we roll the dice, trade up, have a good draft, sign grant hill and take another run at it next season.
