This sounds like a good deal for everyone. Even Marion who would get overpaid from Boston & he would be loved over there.

My head is gunna explode.

If you believe the reports that the MT were in negotiations with Dallas for a deal that didn't include Dirk then they certainly can't come back to the Suns and demand Amare. They screwed the pooch with that one.

I say screw the MT and their demands for Amare. Either they take Marion or we roll the dice, trade up, have a good draft, sign grant hill and take another run at it next season.

Very smart, I agree 100%!

Actually this is nothing compared to the waiting we'll have *if* we get KG. I would say the 1st Suns game would be on Halloween.... so... 4 full months. It would almost be easier on us if they did nothing so we wouldn't have anything super excitingly different to look forward to. :p

:stick:I want KG, but I don't want to get overly excited for more heartbreak.

After a week of disappointing news that led people to take it out on each other, it is finally looking like something great could happen: KG + Amare + Nash + Barbosa all on the Suns.

it would really only be one and half months for a lot of us I think. Once the Cards start up, most of the board will be entertained/heartbroken by their annual hilarity/despondence that they offer us come mid-August and then, once the football season is completely over by Halloween and our Cards have just been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, it'll be the PERFECT time to switch gears to the future NBA Champions (if the trade happens, which I still don't think it will).

okay, maybe by the end of September when the Cards are officially eliminated from the playoffs, more around when Suns pre-season starts. It's not that far away.

Sometimes, membership (being a Cards fan) has it's priveleges, even unintended ones like acting as comic relief space filler until the NBA starts.

Amen. The Cards always get me excited for the first 4 games, after that I just laugh at the comedy of errors until the Suns start.

Realistically, I think we can pull this deal off and still get a lottery pick this year. Minnesota is no longer in a position to bargain; they are risking losing Garnett without any compensation next summer. I don't think the Suns have to give up all of their picks in addition to Marion/KT to make this work. Marion is a 4-time All-Star; we are paying a steep price already for a player that we could potentially have for free next summer. The Suns should give up no more than one of their first rounders this year to the TWolves, if any.

Then they can still package the other first rounder plus the Hawks pick next year for a lottery pick this year. This should be enough since the Hawks pick has a good potential of ending up in the top 5, with high schoolers like Mayo and Rose likely being available.

I can't take this. I really can't. I may as well not go to work tomorrow because I won't do anything.

This needs to be over so I can get back to my normal life. My wife hates me right now.

Last week I said a big part of this deal would be if KG decided to make it happen. It's beginning to look like he has.

Last thing before I rejoin my wife for the night ... the Suns feel like they're operating from a position of power, if things start to fall apart, they've told the ops staff to be prepared for Plan B, Plan C, etc. All their deals are right there at the fingertips, like file folders.

And they should be. We've had almost enough to win. Our major need was to get Amare improve on his low post O&D, get Diaw more confidence, and maybe even Banks, and trade Marion for some asset. If KG is in the line, fine, otherwise we just move on with what we have.

NOTE: Marion supporters, you probably don't want to read this - just warning you now. As for the rest...

okay, I HAVE to assume that if we ACTUALLY have SPOKEN with Shawn, as all reports have indicated, that means a deal IS IN PLACE - point blank, period.

With that being, if it doesn't happen, i think it's as clear as day, that ALL of the blame on the deal dying will fall RIGHT ON SHAWN'S SHOULDERS. No one's else and here's my theory why:

The Suns aren't stupid. We wouldn't alienate a guy with already delicate sensibilities like that if we weren't guaranteed that the deal would get done, pending him and Boston agreeing to an extension. We just wouldn't do it - not just for the chance, because if the deal DIDN'T get done, all of sudden... we... are... screwed. We have a VERY unhappy star on our hands, who actually has some leverage over us on where he will go and I believe with everything in my body that if the above has happened, you have one, really pissed off Marion feeling RIDICULOUSLY under-appreciated. Throw in the fact that we won't talk extension to him and you have a disaster on your hands.

now, it's just time to see if Marion can be a man... or actually step up and take the opportunity to BE THE MAN in Boston. My thoughts are no... in the grand scheme of things, Marion will continue to show what he is and has always been for the most part, a petulant little kid. Prove me wrong Shawn. Prove me wrong.

Update: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2917781

Just when we thought this crap is over, they are now saying Amare to Atl is a possibility. Two things:

1) Minny has no leverage, if they want this tell them to go F themselves we'll just take #8 and be happy

2) chad ford contributed to this article, and it seems to be his wet dream to move Amare.

Seriously, it's getting to the point where I want the Boston/Minny/Suns deal done not because we get Garnett, but so we can start the "Fire Chad Ford for Being An Ignorant Fool" petition.

Chris Sheridan will probably jump in soon with a Luke Walton + Kwame Brown for Amare trade.
