I guess I just don't get that a lot of people here don't watch other teams. I don't understand how someone can watch Tiki Barber, LT, Priest Holmes, Warrick Dunn, etc., and then say, "Hey, Marcel Shipp can run with these guys for 17 weeks." Now that I understand that it's like if you ride a moped for 15 years, and then you get an El Camino, you think you're in a Ferarri.

Exactly. That's us Cardinal fans. I don't think most of us will know how to act if the team ever seriously contends for the Super Bowl. From thinking Ray Thompson and Anthony Clement deserve long term contract extensions to an NFC Championship game...whoa!

It also works in reverse. We've seen so many pitiful running backs that many are ready to can JJ after watching him for all of 4 preseason games. "Isn't that the way Leland Leshon Pittman used to look? JJ is a bust, JJ is a bust!"

I thought TJ could have been good here all he needed to learn to do was hit the hole.

If he has done that he could be a good back but he didn't learn it here or at Tampa

I just dont see JJ's speed at all. Maybe on a track he is fast but on the NFL field he is not.

Well, if "eye sight" is your problem... how can you say he's slow by NFL standards?

(Trying keying on the player trying to tackle JJ... and you'll get a better sense of his speed. Additionally, TV optically slows things down.)

Hmm if its my eyesight that is the problem or the TV screen then what steroids are RB's like Holmes, and Jones, and Jones, and Dunn on? When I see them run during a game I can tell they are much fatser than the guys chasing him. But not Arrignton, the FEW times I have seen him. must be the uniforms I guess, or the quality of air between my eyes and the screen at that very moment when he runs.

I understand the MB is for discourse, but this thread is laughable....

Can we give the guy a regular season game before we put him in the same class as one of the biggest top 10 bust running backs of the last 10 years?

The Jones-JJ parallel is not even close in terms of running style. The poster who said Leeland Mcelroy is spot on. If JJ turns out to be a bust it will be in the same mold as Leeland.

-2nd round pick who fell to us and was seen as a great choice by Arizona

-Smaller back known for his speed at a mid level-big conference program (A&M i believe)

-Given every opportunity to start over the incumbent back

-Not able to take NFL hits and not playing at the speed he timed out at

Now im not saying JJ will fullfill the prophecy of my last point (as i am going to give him this season before making a judgement, as Kevin Jones didn't really show flashes until the second half of last year) but so far those seem to be his problems..

after watching JJ in person last year I can tell you the guy has good speed, Thats where he makes his yards by hitting the holes fast, he will be fine. He's no James Jones but he will be fine

I've always been of the opinion that Jones would have been a good RB for the Cards if management had been able to keep him away from David Boston.

J.J. is definitely the first two, but Thomas Jones is one of the better receiving RBs in the NFL. He's also a solid blocker in the backfield.

T.J. had his problems in AZ, but this is some revisionist history.

WHAT? I never have seen him do jack with regards to receiving out of the back field.

Last year TJ had 56 catches for 427, and 16 first downs. That's in addition to 900 plus rushing yards.

In his career he's had 32 starts, 153 catches for 1079 yards and a 7.1 average, 44 for first down. That's jack.

For whatever reason, we couldn't help Garrison Hearst and he became a good NFL RB. We couldn't make M Pittman go and he became a good NFL RB. We couldn't make T Jones and he became a good NFL Rb. I can't believe everyone has a better OL than the Cardinals. Its a chicken or the egg theory. We had an average Ol the year we got OJ Anderson as a rookie. A few games later, the Cardinal OL was OK. I haven't seen anything from JJ Arrington yet. But, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I'm still upset the way his scenario played out here. Just a bad situation all around. I hope he continues to play well for his next team (Benson there is a slap in the face to his good season last year). His brother though, is a complete stud. Julius amazes me with his speed, vision and power.

I don't see the comparison between JJ and TJ, different players and totally different scenario. This team has a different mindset, and the cancerous attitudes are not here. If JJ gets it, he will soar here. I hope he does.

BTW, did you get my paypal for the FF league, Shane?
