Was really looking forward to him against the division the rest of the year. This stinks to high hell.

Instead of "maybe we're just better" it is now "maybe we're just better off". JK

Well, I said at his signing I did not like it because I had some inside information on his medical records with the Texans. I was wrong about what he was still able to contribute but I was right on what the Cards rolled the dice on

Wow. Worst possible news. Really sucks as he quickly became the heart and soul of the defense. CJ is going to have to really step it up now. Not sure how the d line recovers, will need lots of marginal players to play much harder.

What did those records say about his shoulder?

Was hoping it wasn’t many weeks. Now it’s season ending? Big loss.

Rather, not just that but his body in general (nice brace on his arm by the way, right). Look, he's a warrior and he outperformed anything I thought he was capable of and I am pissed off because he has been so much to this team past anything I could imagine

Were there any interesting things you heard beyond what we all heard? That he has been injury prone the last 6 years?

And here we go

Does the team rally and next man up?

Or the start of the decline like last year?

Big character game
Yup. This is a little like the “STILL SAVAGE” game after we lost HB on a meaningless interception up a ton in blowout during a great season. He was the emotional leader of the D. You know who was on deck for the next game?

Rodgers and The Pack.

You know what happened in the next game?

WE DESTROYED THEM 33-6.

That 2015 team had some great character but just not enough talent ultimately to win the whole thing. With Kyler at QB, I still think this team has that talent w/o Watt and Tomorrow we see if they’ve got the character to match.

I’m now even more excited about tomorrow’s game oddly enough.

Sure, and I went to that game. Palmer was also hurt that game, and his throwing was OFF. That was mostly a defensive game and Palmer couldn't do really anything. It was passable until the end of the season when it mattered vs Carolina and then the curse eventually went for the kill shot.

Losing J.J. will be an impact going forward. Sure maybe we do well tomorrow, maybe next game. But it's going to cost us. I hope we have a backup plan for this. I bet the front office is devastated.

They spent big bucks for him and now he didn't make it halfway through the season. The defense will now have to figure out how to play cause it's going to change the defense quite a bit.

“Miraculous recoveries” before? Like when he came back from back surgery faster than anyone expected... and then I think had to have another back surgery?

Man, this sucks.

This sucks but all is not lost.

He had this exact same injury in 2019. Tore his peck in week 8 against the Raiders and was "out for the season". Was back playing for the 1st playoff game.

We can make the play offs from 7-0 without JJ. It's a big blow but we can do it. We have Peters and Philips back. While not spectacular it's solid.

We may not win the division but we will make the play offs from the position we are in even if we go .500 the rest of the year. The rest of the schedule isn't so tough. 49ers, Panthers, Bears and Lions should all be wins. At least one of the Seahawks games. Colts and Green Bay are winnable too without JJ.

Then hopefully Watt can come back for the play offs if he's done it before. He even has an extra week this time to pull it off.

PS. Pretty sure he did this on that dive when he was chasing Mills to the sideline. You could see him grab around his arm pit as he got up.

This all begs the question...

Why did JJ Watt play the rest of the game against a dire Texans offense with a pec injury? Maybe if he came out right away he's only out a few weeks. Surely playing 30 more snaps with it made it worse.

Absolutely no need for him to soldier on in a game like that.

Or maybe it wasn’t evident that it was anything serious until he cooled down after the game? I suspect if it was suspected to be potentially anything serious in the moment he wouldn’t have kept playing.

Is what it is....next man up

There IS no next man up to replace JJ. None.

rolled the dice on him

got 7 really good games......

Rolled the dice is right. Perhaps we dial back that Keim praise for hitting on all those risky signings just a wee bit. He rolled the dice with Watt, and got a great player...for 7 games.

And he played all 16 games last year…this is just Cardinal luck…..

No, it's not. It's signing an oft-injured, aging star. Luck has nothing to do with it. We bet against the odds and lost. Gutting, but not surprising.
