This all begs the question...

Why did JJ Watt play the rest of the game against a dire Texans offense with a pec injury? Maybe if he came out right away he's only out a few weeks. Surely playing 30 more snaps with it made it worse.

Absolutely no need for him to soldier on in a game like that.

It's shoulder, NOT pec.

Why is anyone surprised at this? The odds of him playing an entire season were not that great.

Let's knock the "He was always going to get injured" talk on the head. JJ is been legit awesome. Anyone could get injured. He's no more prone to a muscle tear than anyone else.
He also played all 16 games last year. So it's not like he is incapable of making it through a whole season.

Between his leadership & production, I already believe that we got our moneys worth this season. And I’m sure he’ll be on the sidelines, if in fact, he’s done for the season. And I have no doubt he’ll be back next season ready to go. Sure this absolutely sucks, but it’s not a season ender for this team. Like I said, if this plays out like the media has reported, then we’ll still have him on the sidelines. And that’s still HUGE.

Watt is out. But going into this season I thought any success this team might have would be on the shoulders of this offense.
I did not see this defense holding opponents to 16 pts a game and you have to think they won’t match that the rest of the season.
This offense is terrorizing. I we don’t turn it over or give up big plays on special team the Packers are going to have more than they can handle.
Play it like the Titans game. Stop Jones. Get a lead and force the Packers to play catch up.

I feel like waiting for the team to make an announcement is probably prudent when speculating our path forward.
Ehhh it’s all over every major sports network. Odds of this not being factual and what we’re being told is somewhere between slim and none.

The surgery part could be speculation, or an assumption.

It's possible to play through a shoulder labrum tear. George Kittle said last year he's been playing with one since 2018. Obviously it's a little different for D line but the fact he played through the rest of the game without much issue indicates it's not too bad and possible to play with it.

I guess they are weighing up 2 options. Play with it now, risk making it worse and definitely miss any play off run or have surgery now, definitely be out for the regular season and possibly make it back for the play offs.

Well if you watch the video from the pro football doctor that somebody just posted… He pretty much makes it clear that if WAtt has surgery there’s almost no chance at all he make it back even for a Super Bowl run not on a labrum tear.....

Possible to still play with it strapped up depending how bad it is. Possible Watt is deciding whether he wants to try play through it or call it on the season. Considering our record I'm guessing he doesn't want his season to end.

Jamal Adams played with a turn labrum most of last season and he's a full contact player down in the box.

He’s been IR four times in the last six years. Last year was the anomaly.

Dude plays lights out every snap. He's the kind of guy who dives for a scrambling QB and hurts his shoulder in a game vs an offense that averages 8 points. He could have phoned that game in but never does.

I'll take 7 games of Watt than 16 games of Philips (not that we will eve rget 16 games of Philips).

People here been saying how what was awesome, what a great signing he has been for 7 weeks and now he got hurt they are all "He's always injured. What did you expect?"

Can't have it both way. Still a fantastic signing. Worth every penny of the rest of this years salary just to have him in the locker room and on the sideline. He makes other guys run through walls.

This team is cursed. So depressing. Not just his play but his leadership on the field. Damn!

At this point he’s basically helped us secure a wildcard playoff spot if we manage to split the remaining games at worst and has injected a great energy and swagger into the team, well worth the investment imho. He’s getting a second opinion so let’s hope there’s better news upcoming and that he can some how heal up in time for the playoffs when we’ll need him most. Hats off to the FO signing him either way though no doubt.

There is no way anyone could be mad at the effort he gave us for those 7 games. And that injury was made while giving max effort on a play most would have stopped caring about.

With that being said...... I am confident of two things.

1. JJ plays a role on this team for the rest of the season no matter what he decides to do.
2. Keim pushes his stones on the table big time to fill the void.
