When asked at today's game what the Hawks need in the off season, Joe Johnson responded with "A real PG"

:biglaugh:

But JJ, you went to Atlanta to be their PG. He probably has one of those Giant Fathead wall posters of Steve Nash in his room.

"Pass me the ball Stevie, pass me the ball!!!! "

But a real PG might make you a decoy again Joe....then you'll be in the hunt again for another loser team to join.

Can't help but wonder if he would have swallowed his money guzzling superstar spotlight seeking pride and stayed with the suns if we would have had a championship last year. Well, we will never know. Good Job Joe, enjoy purgatory (aka the hawks).

Let's see the Tin Man wanted a heart, the Lion courage, and Joe Johnson wanted a brain.

They could have had a great point guard in Atlanta if management had made the right move and taken either Chris Paul or Deron Williams in the 2005 draft. Instead they got their Antwawn Jamison, Tim Thomas, tweaner power forward... Marvin Williams.

But then, Joe wouldn't be "the man" any more.

Did MJ need a real pg?

I concur. JJ should have said he wanted "A real GM".

Marvin Williams is likely to become a really good player, once he goes to another team. :D

The Hawks THOUGHT they solved their problem when they signed Claxton. For some reason Speedy has always been a great backup, but never quite got the job done as a starter. I suspect he's like Smush Parker in that he has great games and lousy ones for no other reason than inconsistency (ie no one knows).

Next thing you know Joe is going to come out and say he wants to play for a contender. :|

the main gripe about Speedy is that he is extremely injury prone, and likely couldnt stand the minutes that a starter has to play. the hawks signed him anyway to a pretty hefty long term contract.

he certainly proved that this season that he is as injury plagued as they come.

Suns fan's worst nightmare: JJ starts being a cancer and wants out. Atlanta dumps him to Dallas for 2nd round pick because Atlanta is well Atlanta. JJ wins the title the next season.

The current Atlanta administration is NOT going to every admit that Belkin (or whatever his name is) was right. They'd rather die.

Maybe we can try a new deal with Atlanta.
We send them Banks for Josh Smith + 2 future draft pick.

Dallas doesn't have a "real" PG either.

Marion/Bell for Johnson/Smith?

I'm in....
Switch that from 'Bell' to Banks' and you have a deal...

I hope we didn't burn too many bridges with Atlanta (embarassing them in the media) that they wouldn't deal with us the next time around. It is important to keep that crappy management on our speed dial and have them pick up the phone and talk turkey.

Dallas is mostly a one on one style team. With Dirk, Howard, and Terry that works pretty well, but their real strength is on the boards.

The Suns combination of Barbosa and Diaw probably generates more assists per minute played than the Mavs. It just doesn't look like Nash.

Let's get real here. JJ will never be back in Phoenix no matter how much they loved him in 2005. That bridge didn't get burned, it got blown up and he lit the fuse.

If the Suns can bring McDyess back -- and have fans again pining for him to stay, for chrissakes -- anything is possible.
