I understand why people want to believe, but I don't think his freelancing will translate in the NFL. He's going to be in trouble the first time he tries to leap around one of the Kuechly types of the league.
Yea he's not going to be able to pull all of the stupid plays off like that but he can stand tall in the pocket and make every single throw. For the most part he knows when to tuck and run or when to stay in the pocket for a bit longer and deliver a strike. He can be taught to stop backpedaling when he tries to escape and just run upfield when there is a clear lane.

Lot's of people keep saying this like all he ever does is scramble like a maniac and make throws on the run. He has proven this year, he can throw from the pocket too.

I would argue that it is his mobility which makes him such a dynamic QB. Don't get me wrong, I recognize the growth he has made as a pocket passer from last year. The issue is Manziel does not have plus arm strength so his NFL success will hang on his ability to get develop into an anticipation passer and use his athleticism to extend plays. Where I think he will fail as a pro is staying healthy and making too many mistakes. His style of play causes him to take too many big hits and I don't think he will be able to change it. Again, just my opinion from watching a ton of A&M games.

There is always the injury concerns with smaller QB's who are elusive, but I can't get enough of watching this kid play. He reminds me of Fran Tarkenton a little. Ultra competiitve, smart, elusive, very underrated arm & pocket presence. There's always a risk, but I'd have no problem drafting him. That is not based soley on tonight. I've watched almost every game he's played. He's a special talent.

Manziel and RGIII have a very similar style of play which leads them to take big hits. Some QBs have the knack to avoid big shots and others don't. Manziel and RGIII take big shots. This caused RGIII to get dinged up in college and in the pros and has caused Manziel to get dinged up in college and will cause him to get dinged up in the pros. Considering that manziel is smaller than RGIII, the hits will take even more of a toll. It was the same issue with Vick.

I am with you, he has a lot of skills to like, but like you I have watched almost every game since his debut and his style of play will cause him to have a shortened NFL career.

It won't happen, but I'm all over that dude at QB. He's a football player. He's the Tyrann Mathieu of offense. Bring him on if you can make it happen.

Manziel twists & contorts to avoid hits, but in the process, sometimes runs himself into a hit. That said, I think he avoids hits far better than RG3. RG3 almost looked for contact last year & refused to slide. I think Manziel has far better pocket presence than RG3. You may be absolutely correct in that he may have a shortened career, but for me, I just love how he plays football. I would rather he have a Cardinal on his helmet making other teams miss, than the alternative. Whether its for 5 years or 15 years.

He just needs to slide like Wilson does with his frame. I've seen Johnny slide maybe twice ever. Can't get away with that at the next level. Everything else; ball placement, reading progressions, arm-strength is NFL caliber and he's great at throwing receivers open.

I don't think it matters anyway. Rob Rang has him going top 5.

All of the sudden, it makes a lot of sense for Houston to take him #1.

Something really goofy will have to happen for him to drop to 20, but you never know at this point in the year when it comes to the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland moved up to #2 and drafted Johnny Manziel, with the Rams ending up with three first round picks. JM went out in style, saving his best for last.

The kid sure has guts and heart. He reminds me of Doug Flutie ( a bigger version with a better arm).I have doubts about his ability to play that way in the NFL and last.Would I like to see him as a Cardinal........................no thanks.

Totally agree on the Tarkenton comparison. He also played in an era when hits on a qb were allowed. I can see Houston taking him with the first round pick.

He also wears a size 15 shoe and has extra large hands for his size. Some sportscasters have suggested that he hasn't stopped growing yet.

I am just thankful that some Team Org. will take "" Johnny ME - ziel"" long before the 20 'th pick . Perhaps Washington will take him and pair him with RG-Me .

I'm not so sure he doesn't have plus arm strength it's just that much of what we are shown is the on the run throws that aren't gunned in there.

The bits and pieces I've watched this year I think his arm is significantly stronger than he gets credit for.

I can't make my mind up on him, he's such a gambler that can lead to lots of mistakes, and if he runs around like that you assume he'll get hurt. But the kid is a flat out winner, he willed his team to that win.

I don't think I'd take him in the first round we have too many other needs but I have a feeling he's going to find a way to make a career for himself as an NFL QB

How can you not like that kid! Reminds me of Fran Tarkenton. Small, elusive, great, great vision & a very underrated arm. This kid is special. Tarkenton made it to the HOF when you could KILL a QB. The NFL would be sure to protect this kid. I would draft him in a heart beat.

i would trade most of my draft to move up and take this kid, get a couple of players in the draft and fill holes through free agency, i think this kid is going to be elite
and hof worthy by the time its all said and done, johnny has the "it" factor in spades and i think he will be hoisting more than one lombardi in his career

If we had the chance to get Johnny, it was gone after last night. We'd have to move on up like the Jeffersons to get him now and it aint gonna happen.

I'm from Texas, saw the kid play about an hour from where I live in high school. Saw the kid throw the ball once he left high school... he has a much stronger arm than Jake Plummer had and Jake by the way had a NFL caliber arm in my opinion

I'd like to live in that world where that double standard doesn't exist. Must be nice for you guys. Wasn't Dez Bryant going off on his teammates trying to get them pumped up on the sideline just earlier this year and since there was no audio at first the sports world was flooded with him being selfish and a bad teammate... OOPS. Turns out he was saying stuff like come on man were still in it and we can do this.

Jhonny football does it and its man that kids a leader lol. Cam Newton, Peter Warrick, Reggie Bush, Terrell Pryor, Winston is a rapist, you could go on and on. Oh these kids are punks Scam Newton blah blah, but this kids a leader and we need to change the rules now

Finito, I agree with you. I didn't particularly like the way you phrased it, but to each his own. Johnny Football is a fraud, imo, regardless of his football ability.
