He will absolutely make one of them. The real question is will he be on 2nd team or 1st team where he belongs?

If he doesn't get 1st I'm pissed. Typical Suns treatment.

Jackson is putting up 20/6/3 in his last 8 games and 21/6/4 in the last 6 without Booker. He better make first team.

His ball handling, speed, defense, and finishing ability are excellent. His passing has been good too. If he adds three point shooting, he will be one of the most complete players in the league.

6-8 player who can get to the rim at will, defend, run the break, pass, incredible speed, finish. Wow. Who does that sound like?

Scottie? Hopefully he gets there.

unfortunately, he doesn't have the length Pippen did, which I think will keep him from ever getting to the All-Time defensive level Pip did. Dude's arms were stretch armstrong-esque which really helped make him an absolute terror on D.

That said, I think he can better than Pippen offensively... who I always believed was a mental midget at crunch time on that side of the ball. I don't see that in Josh.

Everyone is assuming Scottie. I see a skinny Lebron.

Maybe he won't always be skinny? He isn't the facilitator that LeBron is though and it isn't close.

You're right, he doesn't process the game like James does (his strength, IMO) but still, JJ is a willing and skilled passer.

No way. LeBron had Magic Johnson passing ability the second he entered the league. Josh is a good passer and will get better, but the other two had once in a generation skills there.

Also, while Jax is a GREAT athlete, LeBron simply isn’t human. He’s faster and more explosive than Jax... even now at age 33.

Lebron is certainly a better leaper (while being much bigger/stronger), but I disagree about the speed. You would be hard pressed to find players in the league that are faster than Jackson IMO. The dude is an absolute lightning rod up and down the court. The only players that come to mind are guards.

Agree to disagree. No one else in the league makes that Finals winning block LeBron did coming from wayyyyyy behind Iggy two years ago. His closing speed even then was unreal and was even better when he came into the league.

That’s not to knock Josh who has great speed, but I think Bron, especially younger Bron before he bilked up was faster.

Right. LeBron is just so much bigger and stronger.

But there are very few people in the league with that height and versatility.

That is an impossible thing to prove one way or the other. Fact is that only LeBron was in position to be able to make that block. Also his speed was only part of the equation. You have to factor in his size, his anticipation of the play and where the ball was going up, his recognition of the play and how quickly he reacted to go after the block and how high he was in the air to get that block. His speed was only one of the factors in blocking that shot as he also had his head up near the rim when he blocked it. Most players can't move at the required speed while also getting up that high to get to that ball. I think JJ has the speed, but does not elevate high enough to meet that ball where LeBron got to it.

A player that Josh reminds me of some is Latrell Sprewell, if we're comparing him to players from the mid to late 90's and early 2000's. He plays with an attitude, like he's got a chip on his shoulder. I don't see his attitude being an issue, at least I hope it isn't, but it doesn't seem to be an attitude like Chriss or the Morris brothers had, it's more focused like a mean streak and directed towards the opposition. He's a strong wing who can mix it up in the paint if he needs to and shouldn't be pushed around for position easily. On offense he can create for himself much better than he can for others. He's a capable passer but he's been a better scorer than I thought he would be. I like how he can stop his dribble and pull up for a shot quickly with good accuracy in the midrange. His form isn't perfect but it's effective. He's a good on the ball defender with strength and quickness. Once he learns what he can get away with in the NBA I think he'll be a headache for opponents regularly. He talks to the refs too much right now but I think that's to learn more than complain.

He looks like Clyde Drexler when he drives to the hoop. He also reminds me of a slightly more out of control Scottie Pippen.
No comparison is perfect, though, so I'll just say that this kid is insanely good for a rookie. He has absolutely no fear, he appears to love the game, and he gives it everything he's got. He's gonna be a hell of a player.

I have been all aboard the Drexler comparison since EJ mentioned it a couple months ago. Drexler himself hated it at first, but was giving JJ his due in the post-game last night.

That’s funny. I remember thinking that at one point earlier in the season.

OK. Here is an honest question. Is Josh going to be better than Devin? He is more physically gifted.

It is fantastic to have two young guys with that killer instinct. They both have no fear and want to take the shot. Their talents are complementary.

If he ever gets his three ball to 35-37 percent, yes... and he’ll be one of the best players in the league, period.

I’m really excited to see how big of a jump his game makes over the summer.

I would be willing to bet that his 3P% is at least somewhere in the 30s next season. It's 26% right now, but I think he will come in much improved in that department next season.
