One more quick point/clarification:

I'm not opposed to taking Jackson IF the Suns have him at the top of their board in earnest.

I think he is also a phenomenal prospect. I just don't want Bledsoe factoring into the choice unless all things are otherwise equal.
I think most everyone else on the board would agree with this.

I love Jackson been saying so on the other thread for months. He just has a motor you can't coach .his shot is fixable, he can get stronger. he's the next Andre Iguodala IMO.

This is high praise. Can't hope for much more.

Jackson is as highly rated as the other two. If Fultz or Ball is slightly better it's not worth the hassle of trading Bledsoe and getting pennies on the dollar when he's putting up the best numbers of his career. If we keep Bled and add Jackson the suns could make the playoffs within two years. Bledsoe could resign then we gained more in the long run.

Who says you take pennies on the dollar? Bledsoe is coming off his healthiest most productive year. This is EXACTLY when you trade him:

Highest value
More impactful replacement

If we do a lateral move by taking Fultz or Ball and dumping Bledsoe prepare yourselves for another tanked season...In all likelihood. Unless we get a miracle return of value for Bled.
I could actually stomach one more tank season if the gift waiting is a center.

I can. I am hoping he has Kawhi Leonard's ceiling.

I don't think he has the frame to be as strong as Kawhi but yeah another example of a very versatile player. Jackson is sort of the opposite career arc of Kawhi, highly rated throughout school, Kawhi was an undersized post who just worked his way to greatness. Jackson probably has more natural talent but what makes him special IMO is he plays so damn hard.

Show me the deal and we'll talk ;)

I've read too if we draft a PG then try to deal Bledsoe we'll be bargaining from a position of weakness because they know we have to dump him.

Plus Kawhi has insanely quick feet and JJ's foot speed is average for a great prospect. Even in HS he was dominating but wasn't a special athlete.

The reason I'd take Tatum is because he has a more impressive body and he's over a year younger. Imagine the numbers he'd be putting up if he went back to Duke and played his soph year at the same age of JJ's freshman season.

All it takes is one team to need a pg and assets.

I agree. Bledsoe had an excellent season, he is on a reasonable contract for another two seasons. His value is not going to get any higher.

Just Devil's advocate. Say we draft Ball. Next Pick Lakers get Jackson. Why couldn't we call them, and say. You give us Jackson, we give you Ball AND Knight! :) I guess we could get draft picks if that is the way we want to go.

No offense but I am sure hopefull we get a better player than Iguodala. Winning a championship requires "superstars". Bledsoe is not a superstar. Booker is trying to get there and I am hopefull. But Booker and Iguodala are not going to win a championship.

You draft BPA not by need. Drafting by need is how teams never move forward. You don't get many chances at superstar players and their are two in the draft and they are both PGS. If available you have to take one of them...

Kawhi is a physical freak with a nearly 7'3'" wingspan even though he's only 6'7", Jackson is 6'8" but with a 6'10" span...that is miles and miles and miles of difference.

I like Jackson but Derrick Jones gives the Suns almost the same thing. I think Tatum would be a better pick for the Suns. Jones can hit a free throw.

Iggy in his prime was a great player though. Terrific defender, great passer, and could score. Jackson will probably never be a guy that's a top 5 scorer, Fultz certainly could be, Lonzo could be a top 5 assist guy, but Jackson could be the better overall player because he's so good on defense. I also don't think he got enough credit for what he did at KU, this guy was a guard in HS, and he averaged 7.5 rpg and played the 4 all year out of necessity. With his frame playing inside that much wasn't easy.

None of these guys are sure things but I think Jackson is a pretty safe bet kids that play hard tend to find their way in the NBA.

FWIW he officially declared for the draft yesterday. Not that anybody thought he wouldn't.

Everyone is so quick to try to make comparisons but so far I think they're almost all poor comparisons. Jackson is not the pogo stick Marion was. And that was perhaps Marion's defining trait.

The only real comp that seems remotely close this far is ball to Kidd.
