The Cards:

1)offered Dansby an avg of $8.5-8.7 mil a year
2)offered Rolle an avg of $6mil a year
3)tried to trade for an unknown OLB but the deal fell thru
4)are interested in signing marc Bulger as the backup QB :bang:

Sounds good to me. I wonder if Derrick Johnson was the OLB?

1). That is fair value for Dansby. Anything above $10 mil per is a complete rip-off and that is what I expect him to get
2) That would have made Rolle one of the higher paid FS in the league. Can't fault Graves for Rolle not taking that.
3) I wonder who? Glad to know Graves is actually trying to make deals finally
4) I could live with Bulger. He has played at a high level before. His problem lately has been injuries. IMO getting Bulger as a backup is almost as good as getting Pennington as backup.

Just to expand on some of these.

1 - He also said the bonus money is in the 20 mill range. Sounds like no one else in the league is offering Dansby wants he wants, 30 mill. Redskins wont do it, and Maimi hasnt offered that. It is why Dansby stated he will visit everyone. But the Cards offer is so legit Dansby is still thinking seriously about it.

2. Also stated that the Bears wont offer him a deal. Miami's offer is also 6 mill per year. Dont know about the Giants yet or what the difference between our bonus and Miami's bonus is. Looks like Rolle will not be getting anywhere close to the 8 mill per year he was looking for.

If Dansby goes past day 1 it has to be looked at as a "win" for us.

I expected him to be done by 5pm EST.

Bulger at one point convinced the Rams to get rid of Warner, he's been hampered by injuries and has had one of the worst surrounding casts around him, but with a new team there is a chance he could be more effective.

just heard the Rolle deal is almost done in NY

good... then we won't waste 6 mill on him. That money should go to Los and Porter, giving us a pretty solid LB'ing core. Make it happen Graves. You do those, along with the Boldin trade and pretty much most of my remaining dark-side will perish into light.

Yeah, somehow I still don't expect Rolle back. but getting Dansby would be a major coup for the offseason.

I bet the OLB they tried to trade for was A Thomas

I would have driven the 16 hour drive to AZ & flattened all of Rod Graves tires on his car, wrapped his house in toilet paper & turned the sprinklers on.

Ryan Clark is on the radar.

Porter is still on the radar.

Yesterday he thought the chance of re-signing Dansby was 20%. Today is 50%. Going on 9 mill per year is an awesome deal. Might just take a small increase in guaranteed money.

John Skelton has been heavily scouted and is still being heavily scouted. My own opinion, Might be the reason why we tried to get that 4th rounder in the Boldin trade along with the 3rd rounder.

Really thinks we are going to draft a TE this year.

I didn't think that $6 million per year for Rolle was a legit offer. Since it apparently is, I'm glad that he didn't take it. No way he's worth that kind of money. He's not irreplaceable at the cost like IMO Dansby is.

If Graves finds a way to keep Dansby then I'm going to have to **** about Graves for a while on him. He'll have earned his extension and then some. I'm fine with or without Porter, to be honest.

Normally I can answer my own question but on this one I gotta admit I have no idea.

Is Ryan Clark really an upgrade over Rolle? Or at least the same?

Keep in mind I say this with the opinion that Rolle is a very average FS.

God I hope the Cardinals get Skelton in the 4th. You will love this kid. He just needs some seasoning.

About the same. Less upside, and he's less of a weapon with the ball in his hands (or on offense), but he's a more natural FS and he's a little older.
