And Directv strikes again... Sunday Ticket will cost $370 this year if you want HD.

Well they're pricing me out, but if I want to watch the Cards with my son, I don't have a choice. I'm not taking him to a bar to watch the games. I originally thought, F directv and the NFL for giving them the exclusive rights and ability to gouge us. This sucks. I want to be able to watch the games with my son, he's really into it.

I hate the superfan upcharge as well, which is an old argument we've been into on this board before. I'm already paying ten bucks a month to get programming in HD, why do I have to pay another HD charge?

Arrrgh trying to pay off debt, trying to get some money in the bank so I can move back to Phoenix eventually, and trying to do all this with a new baby in my house. At some point, I can't afford these rates anymore.

Sorry for the rant. I know right now I should be glad to just have a job these days.

I didnt even get a renewal e-mail. They just charged my credit card for the first installment since I have auto bill pay. It will get resolved, but I won't be renewing Sunday NFL Ticket this season

Seriously bites. My son is a developing fan, and we live 2350 miles away from Phoenix. If I'm going to watch the Cards games with him every Sunday, I've got to bite the bullet and spend the money.

Dig a little deeper in the mattress Dj. Use some of that old, dusty money.;)

Seriously, $370 seems like a lot of money just to be able to watch your team play each week. Does that get you the home games also if you live in the same area the team plays?

They should offer the games ala carte, like they do movies. Buy individual games for $XX on a weekly basis. Especially in this economy.

Had Sunday ticket every year since it's inception (was it 94?)
This will be the first year I don't get it, It wasn't so much the price increase (that sucks too though) as much as it's their crappy HD DVR's.

My verizon fios DVR is awesome, but obviously void of sunday ticket.

Oh well, it will most likely have the added benefit of getting me back to the valley a few more times a year.

I have never paid for superfan.

I always call in and tell the operator that I had called in previously to cancel ST but the csr offered to give me superfan for free if I kept it. I tell the rep, I had to think about it for a bit but I am calling in now to take them up on the offer.

3 years now..... Never an issue.

I hate the up charge also, this is my subtle way to screw them over. I think I deserve it dammit!!

AGREED!!! I wish Fios could get ST.

Did you know that DTV will be offering HDDVR Tivo units next year? That is what I am waiting for. These HR-21's and 20's really need some help IMO.

isn't the NFL mandating all games be broadcast in HD? - with the digital conversion that means I can use digital rabbit ears on my TV and get the local games in HD without them or anyone

in fact, are they going to show the games in lower quality than the original broadcast just to screw with us

yet DTV feels that they need to charge me a fee for HD, a fee for sunday ticket and a fee for HD sunday ticket

blech

this may be the breaking point ...... only one thing keeps me from just going back to the sports bar.......

Call, complain and threaten to cancel. If you've been with DTV for a number of years and are a 4 or 5 on their customer rating scale (see below on what that is) they'll give you a discount or wave the up costs

*The customer rating system is a mildly secret rating they have for customers. It's a 1-5 star scale with 5 being the highest. It takes into account length of service, premium purchases, on time payments, number of calls into customer service and a few other things. If you are a 5 star customer you will get pretty much anything you ask for in reason. 4 stars, are a probably, 3 stars are a (let me speak with my manager, and so on....

My source on this is my former neighbor who was a manager for DTV in Florida. I have also read online that they aren't allowed to tell you what your rating is but you can try to trick them into it. If you poke around the satellite web pages they talk about the ratings system on there too

One more thing.... my co-worker just informed me that he called to cancel because he was upset at the auto-renew thing.

He said he was bombarded with offers to keep it and finally bit on one that gave him ST and Superfan for $210.00

I had Sunday Ticket for 5 years until last year. The extra hundred bucks you pay to get HD was finally too much. That is complete BS.

Now there are many more games during the week, on NFL Network etc. that reduce the number of games on Sunday Ticket. Also, the Cards games aren't blacked out like they were at SDS.

I've done this the last couple years, last year they said since they'd done this already the year before they wouldn't do it again. I had to call three times before I got someone to even think about giving me a discount, and they didn't give me the whole Superfan thing for free.

Such bullsh-- as this is posted every year in the forums I go to, this forum and the others, and it seems that its a stupid routine that lots of fans go through every year. I don't want to have to dick around with this routine, I want to be treated like a good customer who pays way too freaking much for tv each month already.

and I like the fact that if I google "sunday ticket price renewal" this is now the 7th result. I hope a lot of people see this thread.

I've been with Directv since 2001, and I'm actually upset that they got another contract renewal with the NFL. The Sunday Ticket needs to be opened to the other providers so there is a fair market force to bring prices down.

Thank god, there is someone here who knows what I'm talking about, In the previous thread about this, most people thought the HR20 and 21 were just fine.... I had about 6-7 of both and I KNOW they suck lol.

I would defintely prefer to have my old tivo back, but with HD capabilities. I know exactly what you mean.

As someone else said - the idea of buying just one team's games or content per week at a reduced rate was exactly what my wife thought would be a good idea too. A logical way of selling the product if you ask me. But that might open up a huge can of worms between the teams and revenue sharing, but that's something they can worry about. I wonder if overall revenue would increase from more sales.

I said last year was going to be my last year for Sunday Ticket, but low and behold our Cardinals had the dream season I had always been waiting for. Living in SC and unable to attend games in person, I just tell myself that it is cheaper than attending the games live.

Thanks Cards for making me have to spend my money to watch again this year!:)

Yup! It's $270 for the non-HD version and I would have dropped it this season if not for the playoff run last year. I'll cut back elsewhere, but I'm not happy about the way DTV jacks up the price every season.

I dont do HD, dont understand why you would pay so much extra for it. $270 is a bargain for me. Id spend 2000$ if I had to go out to a bar to watch the games on food and beer alone for a season.

Watch a game in HD, then watch one without, and if you can't see the difference I don't know what to tell you.

I've become a bit of a snob about the HD stuff, I pass over a lot of shows now if they aren't in HD, even if they aren't sports. I equate it to waking up in the morning and not really being able to see clearly, then putting my eyeglasses on.

Besides, I spent $1300 on a tv to get the better picture, to watch the games in anything less than HD sucks. Even more than football, HD in hockey especially makes a huge difference.

The big hate I have to the HD upcharge is I already spend $120 a year to get HD feed from Directv, so this is a double charge.

I got DirectTV in January. Looks like I can get the Sunday Tickey for the 380 but it comes with Superfan.

Any thoughts on how to get them to give me a discount?
