Actually, Collmenter was safe, the ump was not in position to see the tag. Not Upton's fault, he told him to stand up, not slow down. A slide may have been too dangerous, so Upton did the right thing.

Run through the base. He got called out cause he slowed down.

Exactly. Stated perfectly.

Upton still has ups and downs. But his mid-point level has certainly risen. The past two days were indeed something to see.

I think he's gone 7-for-9 with 9 RBI's in the past two games.

He was quoted as realizing that he has to take the bad days with the good days.

I guess the title of this thread, "Justin Upton is a huge disappointment", has done its job and it is time for all of us to move on.

Still an awful thread rife with couch psychology and bias.

During last night's game vs. the Padres, the camera caught a shot of Upton and Young on the bench.

Upton was leaning slightly forward, intently watching the action. Young was leaning back, chewing on his necklace, with eyes that looked to be a thousand miles away.

It doesn't take a psychiatrist to see how Upton is growing up and Young appears to be in a world of his own.

I consider that serious Diamondback discussion. Remember, they are raking in the millions to play a child's game and we are paying the bills in a society that is sinking financially.

The self-labeled "experts" in this thread would have you believe he's just meditating... getting himself focused as he's about to unleash his offensive torrent on the league! That CY is a budding superstar. One of the best CF's in the game today... That his OPS of .789 (career .762), OBP of .329 (career .318), Batting Average of .254 (career .243), career .236 with RISP, career .187 average with RISP and 2 outs, and a season average of 150 strikeouts are merely signs of a kid "growing up" and "maturing", about to "blossom" any day now...

Thank GOD we have these "experts" who graciously choose to offer their pin-point accurate commentary in this thread!! ;)

You really like bitching just to bitch don't you? Now you're saying since someone isn't paying attention for 1 second they are a terrible player? Have you ever heard of Bert Blyleven? He just went into the hall and he was a notorious prankster who wasn't always into every game. Mike Scioscia, one of the best managers in the game today, is the same way. Do you concentrate on work every second? People are allowed to take breaks. Try taking one from bitching and you will see this team is good and maybe you will start having some fun.

I'm sorry, but there's nothing like a "child" in today's pro sports. It's a 24/7/365 job that requires a kind of personal discipline and dedication that I doubt many of us are even aware exists.

Sorry. Just a pet peeve.

Have you ever worked for a MLB team before? Particularly in player evaluation?

I love what Justin has shown this month. Fantastic play all month. However, his play on the game leading triple was lathargic at best.

Maybe they can figure out a way to keep him mad all the time.

Yeah, as good as he's been I have a hard time imagining him ever winning a gold glove.

Can we lock this thread due to stupidity. Also, I think anyone who agrees that Upton is a huge disappointment should be banned for a week from posting on this forum. That might sound dumb but not as dumb as this thread. This thread is no doubt the worst of this year.

Funny, you're like the 10th person that has voiced this opinion but the thread has 170+ posts.

The one thing I don't see in the thread title is: "Hey, Lefty - read this thread!"

Feel free to simply not read it.

I don't find it funny. People are just showing how stupid you look for starting this thread. Too bad you weren't around when Willie Mays began his career because you would of had him in the minors after week one.

If he is going to jump the gun and post something as stupid as this, I have every right to post my opinion.
