If he is going to jump the gun and post something as stupid as this, I have every right to post my opinion.

I thought it was all good fun. Every time Upton gets a hit somebody jumps on here and makes a sarcastic comment about what a "disappointment" he is.

If this thread makes you mad all you need to do is ignore it. The fastest way to make a thread go away is to leave it alone.

I also would like to point out the well documented fact that Gibson had a meeting with Upton the day after I started this thread and shared a lot of the same opinions that are contained in the first 30 or so posts. How is that stupid?

"Jump the gun?" He was posting what a lot of fans felt. Remember - Upton was still sucking when this thread was created.

I have already completely refuted this. He wasn't sucking.

Maybe, but he was disappointing. Maybe not hugely so but the organization also obviously felt he was for whatever reason.

I know I for one would not have been disappointed if I didn't expect huge things from Justin Upton.

Actually, the OP never said he was sucking, just that he was average at best while at the same time...There are about 10 players who were taken right after Upton in the '05 draft that have become stars.

Please, you were serious when you started this thread. If it was just in good fun, you wouldn't of gone into detail like you did. Here is the post, show me where you were being funny? All I see is hate on Justin.

Justin Upton is a huge disappointment!

Ok, I'm not sayin he's a bust but he was supposed to be our franchise player and he's average at best. The thing that really gets me is that he seems to have stopped improving the day he signed his big contract. The guy fields like a little leaguer and either he has no common baseball sense or his head is just not ever in the game. When he's not missing routine fly balls he's overthrowing the cutoff man or throwing to the wrong base.

Upton was supposed to be the next coming of Jr. Griffey but instead he's just becoming the next in a long line of super gifted athletes that will won't reach their potential.

If the Dbacks had taken Braun instead of Upton they'd have a 5 game lead in the west right now.

Braun over Upton? The season is 162 games long and Justin is the most talented player on the team, he was eventually going to turn it around but you and others let your emotions get the best of you. I'm sure Justin would of been traded if you were the GM.

I WAS serious then, the fun has been watching Upton improve and reading all the posts about his success.

Lighten up.

Again, top 3 on the team in every batting category and on pace to be the first 20-20-100-100 in some time is not average nor is it a disappointment.

Then why was the team trying to trade him during the off season and why was the organization so displeased with him. I think it went a lot deeper than just stats. I'm not being a "couch psychologist" there were obviously some concerns.

Its really kind of a moot point now. Its like arguing about whether the country would be better off if we had elected McCain. I don't think ANYBODY is disappointed in Justin Upton now.

Have you ever worked for a MLB team before? Particularly in player evaluation?

Huh? Where is that coming from?? Have you? If you have, how does that comport with your constant propping up of CY??

I don't know anything about your past and how it relates to the game of baseball. I can give you my resume - which, candidly, doesn't at all mean that I can predict the future success of a player any better than anyone else in this thread... I played baseball all the way thru college, from the time I was 6 years old. Was invited to a regional Olympic team tryout in 1983 for what was the exhibition sport in the '84 Olympics. Played in the Cape Cod league during my sophomore year in College, and played on two semi-pro leagues in CT for 4 years after college.
Have an uncle who played college ball with Bucky Dent at Miami-Dade. He was eventually drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and had a quick cup of coffee in the bigs back in late 70's.

But again - none of that means squat in terms of predictive skills. That said, I will take credit for calling out the suckiness of CY for quite some time now. As well as the "Ace" capabilities of Daniel Hudson.
Does all of this qualify me for eligibility to "post on other message boards?"

Oh my god, can we just GET OVER IT and get back to posting in this thread when Upton demolishes a ball to left field? :)

The thread was made, Upton "got better", Thank the ASFN anti-jinx and move on!

Thought my post would garner these types of reactions... I merely replied to an oddball question. Sorry...

But, yes, Justin Upton is becoming a Grown-Ass Man!!!

The irony of you consistently not understanding the value of CY and ignorantly using that to call me out about my knowledge is palpable.

If the career #'s I posted for CY equates to "value", then yes - consider me completely lost! ;)

He should have been shipped out by now. He is the highest paid outfielder on the team and the 3rd highest paid player overall on the squad. Not that that means much baseball anymore... but, in the shadow of his suckiness, it just adds to the case against the guy.
Maybe we can trade him to wasteland teams like the Royals or Blue Jays where he can provide his unique type of "value" and truly shine there??

Sigh, I'm not going to get into this, your opinion of CY or anything regarding baseball is rather worthless to me and not a reason for me to waste anymore energy on you. Keep spouting your ego stroking ********.

Whatever. When 82 speaks ill of CY, he does well. He has admitted as much.

I encourage it from 82, whether or not he likes CY
