Keim is unhappy with Butler - Wile Added to Practice Squad

In an interview yesterday BA said that Butler routinely drills 50+ yarders in practice but then in the games it's a different story. He sounded like he was pretty much fed up with it.

Hard to imagine a kid that basically grew up in pro and college football stadiums would fall apart so easily every time the bright lights come on.

My theory is in practice he just takes his time and punts. But, in games, his release time to punt is so slow that he needs to speed up or it's getting blocked. Thus, he hurries and, well, we all see the results.

I think that Amos & Arians had more say in this than Keim all along ...

Arians is the only one that ever said something that ST is no issue and Butler was great. Keim always .... backed out of such questions.

Like the LS call, I'm not sure if Keim ever did real scouting on the two LS and he trusted blindly Arians and Arians trusted Amos ...

Drew Butler has some dirt on someone in the Cardinals organization. This is getting a little crazy. I would suspect the Cardinals will make a decision this week about the situation.

Maybe get a few snaps and holds in to see how Wile does.

I'm sure the rush for punters will surge in week 14 and the first one they will take is one they can't tryout because he is on a practice squad already, never having stuck on another roster so far in his NFL career.

This is freaking outrageous, completely beyond belief. They just can't get rid of Butler, a damn sucky punter and the complexities of all their procedures to have him around is baffling to say the least. Actually, it is smart. If another team really wanted him, he would have been on a roster and unavailable today...keep that in mind. Having him on the PS means the Cards can put him through multiple practices and simulate game pressure, as much as possible, to make sure he can handle it. Oh, and just because another team comes calling, when you're on the practice squad you do not have to accept another team's contract and the Cards can easily promote him, if he gets an offer elsewhere.

Agree. We saw in Week 1 how a botched snap could decide the outcome of a game. Holding is a lot more than just catching the football and putting it on the ground. If Wile can't execute that, then he's even more of a liability than Butler overall. There are a lot of moving parts involved in a snap, hold, and kick. Because it is done repetitiously with little issue, it's not commonly discussed.

My outlook on this is that Butler and Wile are in a mini competition for the week, and that if Wile can hold a snap, Butler is gone.
